Kiln dried, hardwood & softwood logs in nets, builder's bags or tipped trailer loads. All responsibly sourced from managed woodlands. From a small start in 2005, the company now takes wood from large tracts of the county’s woods – including areas managed by Lancashire County Council (LCC), Natural England (NE), the Forestry Commission (FC) and private estates – and turns it into top quality wood fuel. The benefits of managing these areas of woodland, replanting and contributing to carbon capture go alongside considerably lower fuel costs for users who currently include schools, horticultural businesses, housing developments, large country houses and higher education establishments. As an accredited processor of trees carrying diseases such as Phytophthora ramorum, our biosecurity measures ensure no further spread from infected trees. Wood fuel has the potential to provide a never-ending source of clean, safe energy. In the UK, trees are harvested in such a way that the total amount of wood felled is completely replenished through the process. The young trees absorb large amounts of CO2 as they grow, contributing to the carbon neutrality of the whole process. With spiralling fuel costs and a potentially unreliable supply of fossil fuels such as oil and gas, many people are looking at the alternatives – and wood fuel is suitable for a range of applications. It is easily transported, available when needed and locally produced, reducing transport costs. Financial incentives, including the Renewable Heat Incentive, are available for new installations. Bowland Bioenergy is bringing previously uneconomic woodlands back into beneficial management, resulting in local employment, improved biodiversity and securing the future of an important local and global habitat.

🪵 When you bang two logs together dry logs should make a sharper, clearer, clack that echoes with a ringing sound.

💦 Wet logs make a dull, heavier, thud when banged together. This is because the moisture in the wood dampens the sound.

When you burn wet wood, some of the energy goes into evaporating moisture. Dry logs help your stove burn more efficiently when it’s operated correctly.

At Bowland Bioenergy, our logs are kiln-dried and moisture-tested in-house. Choose hardwood, softwood or mixed orders to keep your log store stocked for autumn.

Remember to keep your logs sheltered from rain, with good airflow, once they arrive.

It’s a special day at Bowland Bioenergy — it’s George’s birthday! 🎂🎉

Thanks for all your hardwork, as a treat, we’ve booked double deliveries today - give him a wave, or even better a thumbs up 👍, if you see him. He’ll be on the little truck this morning and the big wagon this afternoon. 🚛

George will turn his hand to any task (usually with a cuppa in the other hand!) and never shys away from getting stuck in. He's a team player, conscientious and we're proud to have him as part of our workforce.

Happy birthday, George! Seriously, thank you for all your hard work — we hope you have a brilliant day.
