🌟 Celebrating Our Fantastic Hedgehogs! 🌟
A huge well done to our wonderful Reception class, Hedgehogs, who achieved the highest number of class points this half term!
Their hard work, positive attitudes, and brilliant teamwork have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
To celebrate their success, the children enjoyed a very special reward day. They had great fun riding scooters around the playground, showing off their growing confidence and coordination while cheering each other on. Afterwards, they relaxed together with a lovely picnic-style snack in the sunshine, making the most of the beautiful weather.
It was a fantastic opportunity for them to celebrate not just their achievement, but also their kindness, perseverance, and the way they support one another every day.
What a perfect way to end the half term - well done, Hedgehogs class! We’re so proud of you all 👏🐾

We were delighted to welcome Mr Whalley into school this week, who kindly spent time helping to plant beautiful bedding plants in our new planters. This has really brightened up our outdoor spaces and created a lovely environment for everyone to enjoy.
The planting forms part of our enrichment activities, giving pupils the opportunity to learn about caring for plants and taking pride in their surroundings.
A very special thank you goes to Holden Clough Nurseries for their generous donation of bedding plants. Your support has made such a difference and is greatly appreciated by the whole school community!

🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝
Today we’re celebrating our wonderful bees and all the incredible work they do for our planet!
Last week at Forest School, the children enjoyed a fantastic bee-themed session. They got creative making their own bees using a mix of natural and non-natural materials, exploring textures and practising their design skills.
The children also had the chance to taste honey, sparking lots of excitement and discussion about where it comes from. 🐝🍯
Miss Jennie brought along a beekeeper’s outfit, which the children loved seeing up close! She explained how beekeepers carefully look after hives and safely collect honey, giving the children a real insight into the important role beekeepers play in supporting bee populations.
It was a fun, hands-on session that helped the children learn just how vital bees are to our world. 💛

🌍✨ Year 2 Sustainability in DT ✨🌍
Our Year 2 children have been busy learning all about sustainability this half term! ♻️ They explored a range of synthetic and natural materials, discovering which can be recycled and why this is so important for our planet.
The children also investigated different joining techniques before putting their skills into practice by designing and creating their own puppets using felt. 🎭
To decorate their puppets, they showed fantastic creativity by using recycled materials such as wool, buttons and fabric off-cuts. ✂️🧵
We are so proud of their thoughtful designs and growing understanding of how we can all make more sustainable choices! 💚🌱

✨ Year 2 RE Visit ✨
Yesterday, Year 2 enjoyed a visit from Becky at St James Church as part of their RE unit on Christianity. ⛪
They explored Christian symbols through hands-on objects, before creating their own stained-glass windows. 🌈 The children also learnt how churches support their communities and designed their own, including ideas like playrooms, music rooms and dining spaces. 🎶🍽️
A thoughtful and creative afternoon - well done, Year 2! 👏

🌈 Reception Yoga Time 🌈
Our Reception class has been enjoying taking part in yoga sessions, giving children the chance to stretch, move and relax in a calm and playful way. 🧘♀️🧘♂️
These sessions support children’s mind, body and soul, helping them develop balance, coordination and strength while also encouraging mindfulness, focus and emotional wellbeing. Through breathing exercises and gentle poses, the children are learning how to relax, manage feelings and build confidence - all while having lots of fun!
A wonderful way to support healthy bodies and happy minds in the early years 💫

🌍🎉 Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough! 🎉🌍
On Friday, our children had a fantastic time celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! 🐾🌱
They came to school dressed as their favourite animals and explorers, brought learning to life by planting seeds in recycled pots and took part in special lessons all about his incredible life and work. We also enjoyed watching documentary clips that sparked curiosity and wonder about the natural world.
The day was full of inspiration, and it’s safe to say our young learners are feeling motivated to care for our planet - just like Sir David! 💚🌏

🌍 Forest School Adventures 🌱
Yesterday’s Forest School session linked beautifully with our Earth Day Big Question and today’s celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday 🎉
We talked about why sustainability is important to us and how even small actions can help protect our planet for the future. As a school, we are committed to caring for our environment, reducing waste and creating a space that is welcoming to wildlife. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can look after nature both at school and at home.
As part of this learning, we created a wormery to help us recycle our food waste naturally. We went on an exciting worm hunt, added all the necessary parts and learned how worms help improve soil health by turning waste into nutrient‑rich compost. Over time, this compost will feed our plants, support biodiversity, and help us grow in a more sustainable way 🌱🪱
A fantastic hands‑on experience that shows sustainability in action and empowers our children to be environmental carers of the future 💚
