“Even though we came to give something to them, we ended up receiving just as much back.”
Wheelchair Dancing at Stonyhurst is a powerful reminder that service is often found in the smallest acts of kindness, time and connection.
One Rhetoric pupil reflected:
“It felt really special just to be a kind stranger… just making them laugh and simply having fun.”
Rooted in our Jesuit mission of being Men and Women for Others, the programme continues to have a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Men and Women for Others in action.
On Wednesday 17 June, the entire Stonyhurst community will come together for a special off-timetable day in honour of St Aloysius Gonzaga SJ, Patron Saint of young scholars.
Throughout the day, pupils will take part in charitable initiatives, fundraising, social justice workshops and talks led by organisations including Jesuit Missions, Jesuit Refugee Service, Caritas Salford and Ribble Rivers Trust, alongside opportunities to work with local care home residents and children with additional needs.
The day will conclude with the Stonyhurst Colour Run, raising funds for Jesuit Missions and supporting vulnerable communities around the world.
