🎺🎶 Years 3 & 4 had a fantastic brass lesson with Mr Broomhead today! We were so impressed with their enthusiasm and progress. 🌟
Now it’s time to keep the music going at home! Please encourage your child to practise regularly throughout the week – every little bit helps build their confidence and skills. 🎵👏
A reminder to bring instruments back into school next Thursday for our next lesson.

Year 8 recently visited Chester Zoo to study adaptations of animals to their environment; we had a great time watching the many animals go about their daily routine. Chester Zoo breeds animals from around the world that are endangered, to increase their numbers and reduce the likelihood of extinction. Some of the children’s favourites included the many species of frogs and reptiles, snow leopard, butterflies and penguins. We were lucky to see a few animals that are normally hiding, such as the jaguars.
As part of the visit, we attended a workshop about Adaptations and Evolution. The children were asked to study a number of animal skulls to decide if they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. The best way to do this is by looking at the shape, size and location of the teeth and eyes. Carnivores are predators, so they have eyes at the front of their heads so they can judge the distance to their prey. Their teeth are sharp in order to kill animals and tear off flesh. Herbivores have eyes at the sides of their head to see predators coming from all directions. They have flat teeth at the front of their mouths to tear off vegetation and grinding teeth at the back. The second activity required the children to think about how animals might evolve in different habitats, such as their size, colour and feeding methods; they came up with some great ideas for camouflage and feeding methods.
Our trip concluded with a visit to the gift shop, with many of the children buying cuddly versions of their favourite animals.
Everyone took lots of photos, which they can use to enter our Chester Zoo photography competition – we look forward to seeing their entries!
