🎃🐻 A Spooktacular Visit to Manor House! 🐻🎃

Today, we enjoyed another very special visit to Manor House, where intergenerational care brought our little ones and older residents together for a morning full of smiles, laughter and shared experiences. ❤️

Ginger Bear joined us for a spooky-themed session, with Halloween-inspired art, enchanting stories and traditional nursery rhymes that everyone could enjoy together! 👻🎨📚

These special moments are about so much more than activities. Intergenerational experiences help build meaningful connections between generations, nurturing kindness, empathy and a sense of belonging, while creating precious memories for both young and old. 🥰

A huge thank you to everyone at Manor House for making us feel so welcome. We always treasure our time together and look forward to our next visit! ❤️🍂

**Forest School Adventures at Bowland Preschool**

Following on from last week’s autumn outing, we brought a little bit of nature back into our Forest School learning!

The children used the beautiful fallen leaves we collected to create their very own **autumn poem keepsakes**, celebrating the colours, textures and changing seasons around us. 🍂

We also got creative with salt dough, making little caterpillars to add to our small world play and inspire even more imaginative adventures!

And of course, no session would be complete without a couple of very special visitors… our resident runner ducks, **Zorro and Chip!** 🦆🦆 They certainly brought some extra character to our day!

Through creativity, natural materials, imaginative play and our connections with the natural world, the children continue to develop their curiosity, confidence and appreciation of the changing seasons.

Forest School in Action!

This week we headed to Spring Woods, exploring the wonderful changes of autumn. The children collected and identified nuts and seeds, investigated moss and bark, and discovered the woodland through touch, sight and curiosity.

This session perfectly reflected the Forest School principles — child-led exploration, learning through nature, developing confidence and independence, and building a deeper connection with the natural world.

Most importantly, the children had a wonderful time playing, exploring and learning outdoors! ❤️🌿

🍂 Autumn Adventures at Castle Park! 🍂

Yesterday, the children enjoyed a lovely nature walk around Castle Park, we spotted lots of signs of Autumn — fallen leaves, changing colours, and squirrels harvesting.

And, of course, we couldn’t visit Castle Park without enjoying one of our favourite activities… GRASS SLIDING!

Grass sliding is a fantastic opportunity for physical development and risky play. The children are developing balance, coordination, body awareness and confidence as they navigate the slope, while also learning to assess risk, make choices and challenge themselves.

Sometimes the best learning happens when you’re rolling down a hill!

🎶💃 It’s not all outings and adventures at preschool… sometimes we do some seriously important indoor learning too! 😂

Yesterday we got our bodies moving during our music and movement session, thinking about our morning routines and all the things we can do to help keep ourselves healthy.

We explored lots of different ways to move our bodies — sneaking, creeping, leaping, stretching and jumping — before finishing with the most important movement of all… dancing with our friends and having lots of fun!

Music and movement gives children so much more than just a chance to burn off some energy. It supports physical development, coordination, balance, listening, communication, imagination and confidence, while helping children understand their bodies and make healthy choices.

🍂🐛 Another wonderful Forest School adventure! 🌳🍃

Today the children immersed themselves in the woodland, collecting fallen leaves and using them to create their very own hungry caterpillars 🐛. They also enjoyed getting creative with tree painting, exploring colour, texture and mark-making against the natural environment.

Our tree stump assault course provided plenty of opportunities for climbing, balancing, problem-solving and developing physical confidence. The children challenged themselves, supported one another and celebrated their achievements along the way! 🌿💪

But one of the most important parts of our session came at the end. Together, we carefully packed away all our equipment and returned the space to how we found it. This is an important part of our Forest School ethos — respecting and caring for the natural environment and leaving no lasting trace of our activities.

🌳 Take only memories, leave only footprints. 🌳

Through play, exploration and hands-on experiences, the children are developing a deeper connection with nature while learning that we have a responsibility to look after the woodland we enjoy. 💚
