Rydal Day Nursery

Rydal Day Nursery At Rydal Day Nursery we continuously strive to provide all the children with a fun, safe and dynamic learning environment. We aim to bring learning to life.

We aim to bring learning to life and provide the children with time to explore, ponder and embrace their new knowledge and skills. We encourage the children to pose questions and support them to seek the answers. Where ever possible we go out into our local community to interact and investigate. We love having visitors to nursery to share information and knowledge our favorite visits are always fr

om our mums, dads and family members. We aim to provide a variety of opportunities to enable all children regardless of race, culture, religion, gender, physical emotional or social disabilities or means, to develop to their full potential, learning to co-operate with others, enjoy new challenges and grow in confidence within a happy, secure and stimulating environment. At Rydal we provide a full and comprehensive curriculum following all guidance set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is achieved by tailoring the curriculum and activities around the children’s interests and learning needs. Furthermore actively encourage our children to be autonomous learners and assist them in making their own choices and to select their own activities. Each child at Rydal has their own key person who will work alongside your child with you. Your key person will record your child’s achievements and provide learning opportunities and activities to further their learning and development.

What a fantastic July we had! 💛 From getting messy with sensory play to meeting some very special animal visitors, our children have been busy exploring, creating, communicating, problem-solving and learning through play.

Here’s a little look at some of the highlights. . .

🍕 COOKING UP A STORM! 👩‍🍳
Becca our nursery cook has been getting busy in the rooms with the children, making some delicious pizzas and cheese twists for everyone to enjoy! 🧀🍕
The children developed their fine motor skills through stirring, spreading and shaping, explored mathematical concepts such as counting and measuring, followed instructions and talked about ingredients and the changes they could see.

⚽🏳️ WORLD CUP FUN!
We celebrated the end of the World Cup with lots of football-themed fun! The children enjoyed making flags, creating sensory football fields and exploring lots of football-inspired activities. ⚽

🍓🍫 WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY!
What better way to celebrate than with strawberries and chocolate?! 😋🍓🍫
The children practised their safe knife skills to cut their strawberries before dipping them into delicious chocolate to take home as a special treat.
This was a brilliant opportunity to develop hand-eye coordination, control and precision, while also encouraging independence, following instructions and learning about food and healthy choices.

🥋 TAE KWON DO WITH TEAINN
We’ve also been getting active with Tae-kwon-Do sessions with Teiann! 🥋What a fantastic way to get those bodies moving! 💪

🦎🦅🪳 SOME VERY SPECIAL VISITORS!
We had an incredible visit from a variety of animals, including a bearded dragon, bird of prey and hissing cockroaches! 🦎🦅🪳
The children were able to observe the animals up close, ask questions and learn about their different characteristics, habitats and behaviours.

👐💬 MAKATON MAGIC!
Our Tweenies were delighted to welcome Niki, our Makaton tutor, who led a fantastic workshop all about colours. 🌈

👵👴❤️ INTERGENERATIONAL CONNECTIONS
We’ve continued our wonderful visits to the residents at Winash as part of our intergenerational activities. 🥰
We even managed to find some delicious, ripe tomatoes growing on the Winash tomato plants! 🍅 The children picked them and enjoyed them as a snack – a wonderful opportunity to connect growing food with what we eat.

🎓🌟 AND A VERY SPECIAL CELEBRATION…
We’ve also had the opportunity to celebrate our children's graduation! 🎓💛
A wonderful chance to recognise their achievements, celebrate how much they have grown and developed, and look forward to their next exciting chapter.

🎨🫧 MESSY, SENSORY & CREATIVE PLAY!
And, of course, July wouldn’t be July without getting VERY messy! 😂
We’ve been busy with:
🎨 Bubble painting
🖌️ Marble painting
🍓 Fruit-themed tuff trays
🌾 Flour play
🍝 Pasta exploration
🫧 Foams
💧 Water play
🟢 Gloop
🩷 Slime
…and SO much more!

From messy hands to big smiles, from curious questions to new friendships – July has been all about learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences. 🌈

🌞✨ June Round-Up! What a Month We Had! ✨🌞

What an amazing month we had! We packed so much fun, laughter, learning and adventure into the month, making the most of the beautiful weather.

💦 Splash-tastic Summer Fun
The sunshine called for lots of water play! From paddling pools and water fights to cooling off with exciting water games, the children loved exploring, splashing and experimenting. Through lots of water play the children developed their hand-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills, problem-solving, early maths concepts like capacity, and encourages teamwork and communication.

🧊 Ice, Ice Baby!
Our ice sensory trays were a huge hit! The children investigated melting ice, discovered different textures and temperatures, and developed their curiosity through scientific exploration.

We explored so many wonderful sensory experiences this month, including:
🎨 Banana skin painting
💧 Fruit-infused water play
🌼 Magical flower potions
☁️ Shaving foam and bubble foam fun
👣 Feet painting masterpieces
🥣 Oats mixed with water, paint and cinnamon

⚽ World Cup Celebrations
We had an exciting visit from Little Kickers, who got everyone moving, kicking, balancing and scoring goals supporting the development of balance, coordination and teamwork!

☕️We also enjoyed visiting our local care home to join their World Cup-themed coffee morning. It was wonderful to celebrate together, chat, sing, laugh and build friendships across generations.

🌈 Making Memories with Our Neighbours at Winash
We loved spending time with our friends at Winash next door, colouring beautiful rainbows together and sharing our snack.

🏖️🌳 Outdoor Explorers
Our adventures continued with trips to our local parks and beaches, where we explored nature, climbed, balanced, collected treasures and enjoyed plenty of fresh air.

🥋 Tae Kwon Do Fun
A huge thank you to Teiann for another fantastic Tae Kwon Do session! The children worked on balance, coordination, listening, self-control and confidence while having lots of fun learning new skills.

Graduation 2026!

We had a fab afternoon celebrating our pre-school graduation. Thank you to all of the parents that were able to attend and join the party. The children did a lovely job at performing their favourite poetry basket poems and then managed to recruit the parents in a sing along. The pre-school team set up some exciting activities based on the poems they performed and the children loved getting stuck in with them. For the third year in a row, the grand finale turned into a water fight. Outcome: many soggy children, one very drenched pre-school team, and a back garden that now qualifies as a shallow paddling pool. 10/10 chaos.

To our wonderful leavers heading off to Reception: we’re so proud of you. Some of you have been with us since Tweenies, and you’ve grown in every way — taller, braver, chattier, and definitely splashier. We’ll miss you loads, but you’re ready for your next big adventure.

Rydal School leavers of 2026 — it’s been a blast! 🎓💦✨

We’re very proud to be partnering with YMCA Clevedon to launch Young Volunteers and Little Learners!
The scheme has given opportunities to the little ones in our setting, as well as the young ones who can experience a day in the life of an Early Years Practitioner! The children have loved having someone new around, especially with all the stories that have been read!
We’re looking forward to continuing the program and providing local young people with the early knowledge and skills that may help shape a career in the Early Years Sector 🙌
