I was out and about leaflet dropping yesterday, close to our Clevedon seafront home!! I met so many lovely people. One lady who I met, booked herself and her husband on the spot to come to one of our September French themed six wines, six plates events!!
We have been hosting our twice a month pop up restaurant in our home dining room for just over a year now. It’s been a learning curve, and we are constantly discussing how to make our events work better for us, and for our guests. There’s been so many highs, and also lows that you won’t see here!
June was a flop. Our South African themed six wines, six plates events didn’t capture the interest that we’d hoped for. We cancelled with three days notice for our first date, and four for the second date - everyone was kind and understanding, except one guest, who took us cancelling so badly that they wrote that they would actively dissuade anyone local from supporting our business 😞🥲😬that we were unprofessional and needed business coaching!!
We need ten guests booked in to be able to make an event financially viable. We do not take any payment until we have ten guests. We can seat twelve maximum around our dining room table. Prepping six courses, laying and styling the table, polishing the glasses, the silver and making sure that all areas of our home where guests will go are spickety span, takes a hell of a lot of time. There are flowers to arrange and much gathering of ingredients to do. Working for yourself as a self employed person can be rewarding, but sometimes it can also be completely debilitating! I share this, because supporting small businesses, especially in the hospitality sector is more important than ever at the moment.
We have limited availability for September 3rd and 4th. It’s a delicious set menu with a French wine and good theme.
Please do get in touch if you’d like to join us! And give us a follow if you’d like to learn about new dates first!
Our table is also available to block book for bespoke dates.
