Dear parents

Each year, North East Lincolnshire Council is required to survey parents in order to understand the childcare needs within the local authority this includes, but is not limited to, funded provision for under 4s and wraparound childcare provision for primary aged children.

As part of the survey, it is important that North East Lincolnshire Council are able to gain a range of views regarding childcare within the local authority and hear from parents who use childcare and from those who do not use childcare specifically where there are barriers to provision.
From this information, North East Lincolnshire Council will be able to plan and make sure there is sufficient childcare within the local authority for parents to work and train. This may mean information is shared with specific settings where appropriate.

This survey will run until 31st August 2026. The results will be published in the autumn at Become a childcare provider.

Parent Childcare Survey 2026

Today the Starry Owls went for a visit to the beach - in relation to our current interest in the seaside and ice cream parlour - we bought some ice lollies from a local shop and then continued to the seafront where we enjoyed eating the lollies whilst investigating what we could see, hear and feel ... after an adult risk assessed a small beach area, we explored what natural items we could find sitting on top of the sand ... this adventure linked to our storybook 'A Day at the Beach' that we read whilst we were out.

After all the hot sunshine days, we have enjoyed a refreshing rainy day today where we made potions outside at our mud kitchen, investigated using the rain water in different ways, and simply had fun splashing around in sandy puddles.

Following the children's interest in taking the Toy Story toys on holiday and telling us all about their recent days out or holidays with family, the Starry Owls children with the help of the adults changed their play and learning environment to a seaside holiday resort last Friday morning ... and since then they have been thoroughly embracing the play theme ...
