Happy International Left-Handers Day! 🫶💜

As a left-hander myself, I thought today was the perfect excuse to share a little signing fact!

When we use BSL signs, we use our dominant hand in the same way that we use our dominant hand for writing.

So if you're left-handed, you can sign with your left hand. If you're right-handed, you can sign with your right. 🤟

Some signs use both hands, of course, but where a sign has a dominant and non-dominant hand, your dominant hand is the one doing the main movement. 🫶

Signing with little ones, there isn't one "correct" hand that everyone has to use. We work with the hand that feels natural to each child 💜

Its one of the things I love about signing, us lefties can just be ourselves.

So, happy International Left-Handers Day to all my fellow lefties! 🖐️

We had a lovely time at the first class of summer.
We were in the woods 🌳🌳
Discovering lots of creatures 🐇🦊🐿🦔🧚‍♀️
We hid in a tent ⛺️ and were sleeping creatures 😴
Then at the end, big bro read to little sis 💜

There are other ways to play it too. You could do, I spy something the colour... and sign the colour. Or trickier still, with older ones, still use the letter but sign it instead of saying it.
If you're going for it like the video, you could always go for one or two things a week, such as a bird or a dog and every time anyone sees one, they sign it. Whatever works for you :)
