Christmas party
We are having a Christmas party on Friday as it’s the last day of term. Children can dress up however they like as long as they’re nice and warm. We will be playing traditional party games like pass the parcel and musical statues. It should be lots of fun!

Christmas
The last day of term is Friday 16th December.
We come back on Tuesday 3rd January.

Three beautiful signets at the park today.
Thank you!
A big thank you to the families kindly offering donations of balls for our ball pit.
We really appreciate the generous gifts.
We still need more if anyone has any.
Ball pool
We are looking for unwanted balls for a ball pool at preschool. We need quite a few and would be very grateful if anyone has any available. Please speak to a member of staff if you can help.
Many thanks in advance.

World Cup 2022
We are supporting England during the tournament with lots of England and football related activities including penalty taking in the garden and making flags.

Autumn squirrel hunt
Today we found this extremely friendly squirrel. He was happy to pose for the photograph and he ran along next to us when we had to leave. We left some food. We talked about the weather being colder and the leaves falling off the trees and it that it is autumn.

Pirate ships
We started off investigating floating and sinking and ended up with pirates and treasure. Great imaginative play!

Halloween
We saw some amazing costumes today, pumpkin carving and read Room on the Broom. Lots of not so scary fun. The children also took their wonderful art home that included spiders, bats, ghosts and skeletons. It’s looking a bit empty now so we shall have to start with the next big festival. Hi ho ho.

Castles in the sand
Today we are using natural resources to create castles and houses for the conker people. Great imaginative play.
Half term
Last day is Friday 21st October and we are back on Monday 31st October.

Oral hygiene
This week we have been learning about oral hygiene and visiting the dentist.

Autumn displays

Dock tower
The children have been building the dock tower using magnet tiles. Magnet tiles are a great construction resource and suit children from 2 up. They aren’t expensive and they are very durable. Great for shape recognition and hand eye coordination. A good present idea for birthdays or Christmas.

Found kitten
If anyone recognizes this kitten, please contact us. It’s followed a family from Daubney Street to our preschool. It’s a lovely kitten and is being cared but we will have to drop her off at the Blue-cross soon if we can’t find her owners.

Thomas is finished
After lots of glueing and painting we are ready to play.
Today the children are playing in and around our new Thomas Train. They are trying to be gentle and not to break it but we will see...

Bluebell is visiting us today. The children have been learning all about chickens and where eggs come from. They’ve also been working on being kind and caring for a living creature. Bluebell is loving the attention!
Thank you
A big thank you to all the families that have brought in fruit and vegetables. We’ve had tomatoes, kiwi, carrots, pears, melons, pineapple and lots more. Thank you it’s really appreciated.

Sensory time
We have been exploring and investigating different materials. We’ve learnt lots of new words including transparent, rough and metallic.

A home for Bog baby
We have been talking about the weather being colder and autumnal today. One little boy said he was worried about the Bog baby being cold (we have an image of a character from a book painted on the wall outside).
He then decided to make a house for him to stay warm. I think the Bog baby is very cosy now.
Monday 19th September 2022
Preschool closed due to the state funeral of Her Majesty The Queen.
Harvest festival
We are celebrating harvest festival next week. Please bring in any random fresh fruit or vegetables. Anything unusual will be especially appreciated. We will be looking, touching, smelling and tasting everything brought in. Many thanks in advance.

As promised, here’s a photo of our train craft project on day one. We’ve had lots of help from all the children and so far it’s been great fun!
Big art project
Thomas the tank engine
Please support us and bring in any old newspapers from Monday onwards.
We will keep you updated on our progress. I’m sure it will be fun.
Monday 5th September
Can’t wait to see you all!
Please make sure your child has a change of clothes and spare nappies and wipes in their bag. Also, sun cream and hats will still be needed (hopefully for a while yet).
Session times are 8.30-11.30am and 12.30-3.30pm.
Wishing everyone a lovely summer!
We are so lucky to live so close to the beach!

Ice pops!
Our totally amazing Jenny popped in this morning to say goodbye to our four year olds who are going to big school in September. The wonderful Jenny brought lots of ice pops for everyone. We really appreciate her thoughtful kindness! Thank you so very much!
Hot weather
We need to take extra precautions in the next few days.
Please ensure your child has sun cream on prior to arrival at preschool.
Please make sure they are wearing loose, cotton clothing and a hat.
We will encourage the children to drink lots of water.
We will provide lots of shade in the garden.
We will organise play experiences that reduce physical activity.
We will make it fun!
Apologies in advance for damp children. We will be playing in water.
Keep safe.
Party time
Our last day is Wednesday 20th July. We open again on Monday 5th September.
We will be having an end of term party on Friday 15th July. There will be a picnic, party food and games.

Forrest school
This week we are collecting interesting things from our nature area in Sidney Park. We are displaying our collections on our beautiful little hand painted trees (all the work of our children).

Floating and sinking
Today we have been finding things that float like wood and pine cones and things that sink like shells and stones.

Magic windows
Today we are finding sticks and making magic windows. We need the right length and the right thickness to make a good magic window. The children have been very good at finding perfect sticks. Now we just need to find some magic creatures.

Forest school
We’ve been finding and making lots of shapes today using twigs and sticks.
Hats and sun cream
Please can you ensure your child has sun cream on before coming to preschool. A hat is needed in this sunny weather and loose cotton clothes are best.

Water play
Today we are experimenting with water. We have been pouring, squirting, filling, measuring and emptying different containers. We have been using lots of new words including funnel, measuring jug, full and empty. We’ve already mastered the squirters and nearly everyone can fill a test tube using a squirter from three feet away. Lots of cooling fun today.

Forest school is back
We are now accessing the community garden area at Sidney Park.
We have a nice safe enclosed area and access to toilets and water.
Today we sat in the shade under the canopy of trees. We collected sticks and made a campfire, then we decided to make a cabin for Buzz.
We also enjoyed a lovely picnic.
A wonderful day!

Science
Today we have been experimenting with wet and dry sand. We found that we needed wet sand to make sandcastles. We gradually added water, mixing in between, until we came up with the perfect consistency.
We found that dry sand was perfect for pouring and making patterns using our fingers.
We followed rules including no throwing sand and sharing our resources.
We talked about sandpits at home and the sandpit in Cleethorpes as well as the biggest sandpit of all, Cleethorpes!
