From October to March we canβt make enough vitamin D from sunshine, so to keep bones and muscles healthy, itβs best to take a vitamin D supplement.
Adults and children just need 10 micrograms a day and you can get vitamin D from most pharmacies.

It can take just 15 seconds for a child to lose consciousness if they get tangled in a blind cord. Brain death can occur in a few minutes.
Make sure yours are safely secured with a cleat hook or tensioner to keep cords and chains safely away. All new blinds should come with these.
And, try to keep furniture well out of the way of blind cords or chains so your toddler canβt climb up and reach them.

With the weather turning chilly, here's a wonderful activity the is full of awe and wonder. The children collected their own natural treasure and added their own water. Hanging them in the trees was amazing as we watched them melt in the sunshine. Lots of opportunities for science discussion and lots new vocabulary to introduce. Enjoy!

We now know that tragically, three boys aged eight, 10 and 11 have sadly died, and a six-year-old remains in critical condition after an incident yesterday afternoon in Solihull and our thoughts are with those involved.
This weekend we had an extremely cold spell which meant many bodies of water froze over. We have lots of detailed safety information on our website which will help keep you safe during the winter.
The key things to remember are:
1. Never go onto the ice to play, to retrieve an object, or a pet
2. Never enter the ice to rescue somebody, call 999 and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service

Are your alarms set to grab a Black Friday deal next week? The shopping event can be great for getting a bargain before Christmas. But please remember, if deals look too good to be true, they probably are.
While toys sold by well-known, reputable stores are safe, toys, novelty items and dressing-up clothes that you can buy in online marketplaces, markets or discount stores may not be.
Remember:
β’ Where possible shop with reputable retailers or brands you know.
β’ Online marketplaces, market traders and discount stores may import from countries with very different safety standards to ours.
β’ Look out for quality marks. A CE mark is required by law on many products sold in the EU and a Lion Mark is a good indicator of a toyβs safety.
β’ But remember, safety marks can be faked so always use your judgment
β’ Some key dangers to look out for in toys include: accessible button batteries, super strong magnets, long cords or loose parts
For more tips on how to buy toys safely please visit https://capt.org.uk/buy-safe-toys/.
