It's good to be getting back into the swing of things with face to face gaming. After the German invasion of the Low Countries proceeded slightly ahead of schedule, it was good to have a contrast this summer.

A trip to the Yorkshire Dales was long overdue and the chance to run leadership and decision-making activities as part of the summer programme of Bradford's Sport Health & Academia Projects Endeavour https://www.shape-uk.com/.

The Shattered City still needs rebuilding, but the girls were well on their way to rescuing all the survivors and alleviating suffering by the time we halted to debrief and discuss the learning. Crisis management game though, what crisis?

Delighted that attendees enjoyed Saturday's 'The Blitzkrieg Story: 1940' and great to play megagames in person after so long. The staff at St Mary's Church & Conference Centre on Bramall Lane were very helpful and thanks to all those who made it happen. John P would have loved it, so pleased we could celebrate his contributions over the years.

As for the game, it was interesting to see that hidden movement wasn't generally utilised, but the colours were pretty and we had an outcome. Sadly for the Allies, von Rundstedt was successful in the Ardennes, even when reduced to marching to victory, aided by airborne forces, whilst the French seemed determined to fight to the last Belgian in the North, particularly when Holland sought a ceasefire after the kidnapping of their monarch. The BEF are expected to commence retiring shortly, but did manage to destroy a cocky panzer division in a storm of artillery fire.

Thanks again, All

7th August, St Mary's Church, Sheffield.

1940, the Blitzkrieg Story. An operational game of Case Yellow, for thirty or so players, as German tanks (which are Skodas underneath) drive West. Can you overcome the command and control issues facing the Allies to halt Rommel in his half-tracks?

Rescheduled event from last year, rescheduled again.

A operational game for the 80th anniversary of the invasion of Poland. Somewhat overconfident Germans encounter a well-organised defence.

Something I can talk about after a busy couple of months away. An unexpected run out of Finest Hour with Year 6 pupils in Birstall today. Britain weathered the storm and valuable lessons were learned. 'Can we play this again? I want to do better this time'
