First Day of term

Most of you will have INSET days today where the teachers are going in to update their Safeguarding training alongside any other policy updates.

I know that's what my day looks like today.

My last "First Day of Term" was back in September 2019. I'm so excited to be working back in a school but I'm also getting quite nervous now.

Gain or Loss game

Arithmetic game with just 1 resource that I bet you all have at home. A pack of cards!

Each player starts with the number 15 (you can make this a higher number if you want to avoid going into minus numbers)

Draw a card from the deck of cards.
If it is a black card: add it to your total
If it is a red card: subtract it from your total

Winner: player with the highest score at the end.

The kids have taken a real interest in camping this year and I am here for it!! A few weeks back they decided they wanted to camp in the garden. So, why not? I knew they wouldn't last the whole night so I agreed that they could.

Roll a story is a fun way to get writing.

For a few weeks, our focus had been using adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions to improve our descriptive writing. Then we needed to put it into action.

Using the Roll a story was a great way to come up with a random story that could give us the opportunity to show off our new skills!

DISCLAIMER: We are aware the last bit doesn't make sense. That was edited on the following lesson before writing the next part of the story.
