Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Grant, who is currently working towards his Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship, which he began in June 2024. Alongside his apprenticeship, Grant also plays a key role at Clacton Leisure Centre, where he works as a Sports and Leisure Administrator, putting his developing skills into practice every day.

As we come to the end of National Apprenticeship Week, we hope you’ve enjoyed the success stories we've shared. Grant’s story is yet another reminder of the incredible impact apprenticeships can have on both individuals and workplaces.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Sam, who completed his Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship back in September 2023.

Sam’s journey shows how taking the first step into an apprenticeship can build not only skills, but real confidence in your own abilities. He shared that through his apprenticeship, “I feel much more confident within my own abilities. My knowledge of meeting customers’ demands has increased, which then allowed me to create a more structured work schedule. As a result of this, my team can trust me more with tasks, leading to an overall better experience for the customers.”

His experience is a brilliant example of how apprenticeships don’t just introduce you to a role, they help you grow within it. From building trust with colleagues to improving customer satisfaction, Sam’s development shows how the right support and training can shape long‑term success.

For National Apprenticeship Week, we spoke to Councillor Gina Placey, chairwoman of governors at Career Track and councillor responsible for partnerships, about the vital role Career Track plays in supporting our apprentices.

As she explained, “Apprenticeships are about creating opportunities and raising aspirations for local people, and Career Track is a brilliant way of delivering this.”

Continuing our celebrations for National Apprenticeship Week…

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Nicola, who completed her Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship back in October 2025.

Nicola’s journey shows how taking the step into an apprenticeship can transform your future, even if the low wage feels daunting at first. She’s proof that once you get your foot in the door at TDC, the support, opportunities and long‑term career progression far outweigh those early challenges. Her experience highlights how apprenticeships don’t just open doors at the start of a career, but continue to create opportunities that shape it for years to come.

We're shining the spotlight on Panos, who completed his Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship and is now a proud TDC employee.

For Panos, English not being his first language was a real worry at the start of his journey. But through dedication, support, and a strong commitment to learning, he not only completed his apprenticeship - he excelled.

Panos is also a fantastic reminder that apprenticeships aren’t just for those coming straight from school or college. No matter your age or background, an apprenticeship can be the perfect opportunity to build confidence, gain new skills, and take the next step in your career.

Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 🎉

Over the last decade, 500+ people have kick‑started their careers through the Career Track apprenticeship programme - with 1 in 5 current TDC employees starting as Career Track apprentices.

As an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, we’re proud to raise aspirations, create opportunities, and open doors into local government careers across north Essex.

And in 2025? 100% of apprentices said they felt informed, supported, and ready to succeed, and every single one would recommend Career Track to a friend. 💚
