We've had an outstanding day of lino printing in the studio. A huge thanks to Lauren- you just get the most amazing results on each course!! This was jigsaw lino printing, and I think we might repeat this next year as we've only just scratched the surface of what can be achieved. Fabulous!

Well that was great fun. We've just enjoyed a wonderful performance by the Mad About Theatre Company of the incomplete Works of Shakespeare! Written by the enormously talented Indi Allen it was a joy. There's another performance at 6pm this evening if you're free, just pay on the door, I can thoroughly recommend!

Many thanks to everyone who helped me raise over £1000 for cancer research. I finished the 26 miles in just under 10 hours and that time included the 3 rest stops the team provide which added up to about an hour. I felt epic when I finished, no blisters etc, but now I feel totally knackered with confused leg muscles! Lots of stretching tomorrow me thinks. Thanks again.

A super day of stained glass with the wonderful Mona Marnell on Wednesday. These are just delightful. The design isn't easy but everyone did brilliantly!! Mona is back later in the year for Christmas stained glass but I'm sorry, it's already full. Don't worry, Mona will be back next year!!

We've just had the tree field surveyed for insects. We're overwhelmed with what Simon found. We knew we had a lot going on because we were seeing clouds of butterflies, dragonflies, crickets etc when watering, but we didn't realise quite how much! I found pictures of everything which I've printed and laminated to take with me next time so I can learn to identify things myself.....ha ha, like I'll ever remember!🤣🤣

Our new woodland creation scheme is really suffering with this heat. We've been regularly watering, again and again, and each time, there are fewer and fewer live trees, and the cracks in the field get wider and deeper. Poor trees don't stand a chance but we'll keep on watering those hardy ones that are hanging on!

A selection of some of the pen and wash sketches from yesterday's course. We had a lovely day, outside during the morning then a bit more inside in the cooler studio in the afternoon. Earlier this week, we had a super workshop with the wonderful Janie Pirie. It was a delight for the students to have such an experienced and knowledgeable tutor - I can't believe the stunning paintings she produces herself with coloured pencils, just amazing!! Here are a few examples of some of the detailed work done during the day by students, most of whom were new to the medium.
