Due to the volume of customers we are getting in the shop and a lot of families have pushchairs with them. Please can we ask that if the shop appears busy that you wait outside to make this safe for yourself, other families in the shop and our volunteers as they can only help one person/family at a time. Thank you for your co operation.

We absolutely want you to take it seriously - but we also need your help to keep our 999 Control Room lines available for emergencies.

Please call 999 if you see a fire that is spreading, out of control or putting people or property at risk.

If you see someone having a BBQ or a bonfire, please don’t call 999 simply to report it.

If you’re concerned about a fire, assess the situation from a safe distance. If there is an immediate risk to life or property, or a fire is spreading, call 999 and ask for the fire and rescue service.

It’s scary to think about but if a fire breaks out children often hide from it, under the bed or in a wardrobe, because they’re scared. This means it will take longer to find and rescue them.

With the long summer holidays, why not spend a few minutes making and practising a family escape plan together? Turn it into a fun activity so everyone knows exactly what to do if the worst happens.
