We specialise in dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Drama, Acro & Singing from 2.5 years. We would like to say a big warm hello! We are Claire & Gemma and we own JA Performing Arts Clacton on Sea

We are sisters originally from Clacton who took over JA Performing Arts in 2015. Our Performing Arts and Dance school is a family orientated as it is exactly that, a family! O

ur Mum, Jackie, founded the dance school in 1988 – we never remember a time without the school! It is so important to us that you and your child have the most positive experience with us, from the very first enquiry through to joining our school and becoming part of our JA family. We offer specialist dance classes for Boys and Girls from the age of 2.5 years upwards in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Drama, Hip Hop/Street and Musical Theatre. We like to think we are a little more than a dance school. From our tiny tots dance classes, to getting our seniors ready for college auditions, we want to make sure students are treated with respect, dignity & nurtured into the performers they were meant to be. Quality is exceptionally important to us. Many of our former students have gone on to train at Vocational colleges such as Arts Ed, The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama and Laine Theatre Arts to name a few. Here at JA Performing Arts, Clacton we also provide adult classes in Adult Tap, Adult Jazz and Adult Ballet, which prove to be super popular! All dance classes are held in our impressive purpose-built Studios in Clacton. If you have any questions at all, please pop us a message and Claire will happily answer any questions you may have. What will my child gain from your classes? We always ensure children have fun in a safe environment, grow in confidence and of course learn to dance! If your child has lost their confidence a little, our friendly & supportive team will help give your child their sparkle back! What classes do you hold? We specialise in providing technical training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Drama, Acro & Singing. We have a variety of classes from pay as you go to termly classes. Classes from 2.5 years to Adults. We offer a free introductory class to all of our classes. Where are you based? We have our own purpose built Studios, in Brunel Road, Clacton. Warning: enrolling your child in Tap may result in tapping around the house. 😂

But when they love it this much, we think it’s worth it.

Tap is such a brilliant style for children who love music and movement because they’re not simply dancing to the music, they get to become part of it.

As they learn new steps and combinations, they’re also developing rhythm, coordination, musicality, concentration and confidence.

And there’s something VERY satisfying about finally mastering a sequence and hearing all those sounds come together.

Whether your child has danced before or is completely new to Tap, September is the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

Dance might look like steps, music and routines from the outside…

But there’s so much more happening in the studio.
For children, movement can be a powerful way to express emotions, use their energy and practise skills such as focus, persistence and coping when something doesn’t go right the first time.

Think about everything that happens during one dance class.

They listen. They wait their turn. They make mistakes. They try again. They work with others. They express themselves. And, importantly, they MOVE.

Dance can provide children with a positive, structured outlet where they can develop skills that support them far beyond the studio.

And sometimes, after a long day at school, having somewhere they can simply move, be encouraged and be themselves is exactly what they need. 💜

This is exactly why we say dance is about so much more than learning the steps. 🩰

Watching a child’s confidence grow is one of the loveliest parts of what we do at JA Performing Arts.

It might start with a nervous first class, but over time we see children come out of their shells, make new friends, believe in themselves and become more confident both inside and outside the studio.

There’s still time to become part of the JA Performing Arts family, with a few spaces left across selected classes for children and adults.

Some friendships start in dance class… and become so much more. 💜

One of our lovely JA mums shared these photos with us, and we just had to share them too. 🥰

These three met through JA Performing Arts and have gone on to become the best of friends, enjoying life together outside the studio just as much as they do inside it!

They recently headed to see Becky Hill at Castle Park together, and seeing photos like these reminds us of something really special about dance…

Yes, they learn the steps. They build confidence. They perform.

But along the way, they also meet people who can become friends for life.

And after more than 30 years of JA, watching friendships like this grow will always be one of our favourite parts of what we do. 💜

There’s so much more behind Student of the Week than simply being the ‘best dancer’. 💜

At JA Performing Arts, we want our students to know that the things that really matter deserve celebrating too.
Being a kind and supportive friend.
Working hard on a skill, even when it feels difficult.
Having the courage to try something new.
Stepping outside your comfort zone.

And sometimes… simply turning up and being your brilliant self.

Because dance is about so much more than perfecting steps. It’s about helping children grow into confident, kind and resilient young people and recognising all those little moments of progress along the way.

After over 30 years of owning a dance school, one thing has become very clear… 💜

Some children just have energy they need to use… and Acro gives them the perfect place to channel it.

In our Acro classes, students can develop their strength, flexibility, balance and coordination while learning skills with the correct technique in a safe, supportive environment.
