The GREAT Project and The Rural Facilitator Course 🌱

Please note: You DON’T have to be based in Gloucestershire to attend ‘The Rural Facilitator Course’ taking place 26/27 July & 30/31 August.

Every year, considerable third sector money is spent on community and environmental schemes, many of which deliver real improvements in environment, habitat and local community. However, far too many do not fully achieve their goals or achieve only short-term successes. In many cases this has been attributed to a lack of training in the facilitator. This course incrementally builds the skills and confidence of delegates to deliver at the Individual, Team and Project level.

FarmED, FWAG SouthWest & Ruralink Veteran are all partners of The Great Project stands for Gloucestershire Regenerative Environment and Agriculture Transition. It’s a three-year project, funded by Thirty Percy, to boost the transition to farming methods that restore the soil, water and air. We want to join the dots between farmers, advisors, growers, mentors and their communities to facilitate this change that is so sorely needed for a resilient future for farms, nature and the earth.

Very happy to announce the RURAL FACILITATOR COURSE

Designed for anyone and everyone who works with a professional or volunteer team to deliver a project in the countryside.

Developed by Tess Matson in collaboration with the GREAT Project, this course is delivered over three incremental modules to give delegates the Individual, Team and Project level inter-personal skills and knowledge needed to work effectively as a facilitator on rural community projects.

The final exercise is based on a bottom-up community climate-change initiative called “Integrated Local Delivery” (ILD) and the key note will be delivered by its author and leading practitioner, Jenny Phelps MBE.

Suitable for:
Professional farm advisors
Volunteer community coordinators
Team leaders
Small project facilitators

Delivered in-person at venues within Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire-based delegates can apply to the GREAT Project for a discounted rate. (Follow link embedded in GREAT logo.)

Ex-military tend to have the latent skills to be excellent facilitators; this course will hone these existing skills and provide a civilian framework for those transitioning to follow-on careers.

There are five places remaining the FREE pilot course. Dates for the first two paid courses are also now live via our partners at The GREAT Project, direct via Eventbrite or by following the links at Ruralink.org.uk/facilitator.

NEW volunteer experience days added in January and February. See Environment career page for more.
