Well, this is exciting!

Today is the first day of welcoming pupils into my lovely new classroom. It feels very special to finally be in and ready!

This is a wonderfully calm, welcoming space where pupils can feel comfortable, build confidence and most importantly, enjoy their learning.

Working memory plays a huge role in learning and it’s something many children with dyslexia find tricky.

The good news is that we can build it through play!

Simple “memory games” like matching pairs, repeating sequences, or “I went to the shop and bought…” strengthen the brain’s ability to hold and use information - the same skill needed for reading, spelling, and following instructions.

We can build on this even further by introducing strategies like grouping - just like my pupil today - whilst playing and having fun!

Assessment day here for a 13 year old pupil. This will take us approx 3 hours, but we’ll have lots of rests and fun along the way!
