A Saxon's Tale Providing workshops for Key Stages 1 & 2 covering Anglo-Saxon and Norman studies. Join Athelstan and learn about the life and times of the Anglo-Saxons.

A variety of workshops will take you through their everyday lives, learning through fun and games as well as handling replica items, weapons and armour! Bringing history to life and taking you back more than 1000 years. Find out how the Viking invasions affected the Anglo-Saxons and what impact it would have on their kingdoms as well as daily life. Investigate the impact of the Norman conquest on

Anglo-Saxon England and how the Normans used castles to conquer and control their new kingdom

Come along for a trip through history! The workshops cover Key Stages 1 & 2 with an emphasis on critical thinking and comparing and contrasting our lives today with those of the Anglo-Saxons. The workshops can also cover the local history of the Forest of Dean and the geography of Anglo-Saxon settlements to bring in cross curricular links

Athelstan will be at the Dean Heritage Centre tomorrow between 11am and 3:30pm telling tales of dragons, witches and monsters from Saxon times, why not come along and listen to a tale or two 😃

It sure has been a cold few days! Just imagine how the Saxons and Vikings would have survived the cold before modern central heating, or better still book a workshop with Athelstan and find out :-)
