We have our annual Showcase Concert coming up this weekend, if anybody has any raffle prizes, services or would like to sponsor a drum lesson or something from the Drums Etc. shop as an individual or a company, then please get in touch!

All proceeds from the raffle (and the showcase concert itself) will go straight to Jamie Frost’s Keep Drumming Fund, helping those in financial difficulty to keep drumming!

Drop me a message if you’d like/be able to help out.

Thank you 🥁

As if the new Evans Hydraulics heads weren’t exciting enough 🫣 - I’ve dug out a vintage 1970’s Zildjian Avedis ‘Pang’ cymbal of which I’ve owned for a while, I’ve given it a clean up for you all to have a play on. It was for sale in the shop, however I’ve decided to run it on our kit in the studio and see how it goes, to give students more of an array of voices/sounds to experiment with!

For those interested:

“The Zildjian Pang cymbal comes from Zildjian’s tradition of creating new cymbal voices to meet evolving musical needs, particularly during the mid-20th century when jazz and big-band drummers sought broader, more atmospheric sounds.

Related to other Zildjian “exotic” designs like the Swish, the Pang’s distinctive flattened edge, wide bow, and ride-like bell were meant to bridge crash, ride, and China characteristics without fully becoming any one of them.

Formalised in the Avedis (A Zildjian) line in the 1970s and made in the U.S., the Pang was a purposeful, musician-driven design offering controlled spread and complex overtones, and it remains valued today as part of Zildjian’s experimental lineage rather than a novelty.”

I thought it was a pretty cool addition to our kit, complementing our 1970’s Yamaha SD-065MB (Made In Japan) Snare Drum, manufactured from a similar period.

’Ere we go, you lovely lot! 🥁

Because I’m fully committed to making sure my awesome students get to play on some of the very best gear in the industry (and because I’m also very financially irresponsible), our stunning Yammy Stage Custom has been treated to some shiny new heads ready for the new year!

A full set of Evans Hydraulics in Black have been carefully fitted and tuned by yours truly — primed and ready for you all to absolutely batter!

Can’t wait to get back to it!

Happy New Year, and I’ll see you all very soon, starting back to normal (or should I say, as normal as can be for us 🫣🤪🤣) from the 5th January 2026!

⭐ Huge Congratulations to Cub for passing his Grade 8 Drums with a Merit!⭐

Cub is ecstatic as am I about his result, as well as earning those all important UCAS points, he’s now ready to continue his journey with Music with the highest Graded exam obtainable.

The absolute best of luck for September when he’s off to Uni to study a BA (Hons) in Music!

It’s always a bitter-sweet moment when a student leaves to go on to their next chapter - you’ll be greatly missed Cub - make sure you keep in touch!

It is with a heavy heart that I'm gutted to have to announce the cancellation of Cinderford Drumfest 2025. 😔

This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but after careful consideration, we’ve had to face the reality that a huge number of students will be on holiday during the event (which, of course, is understandable—it's the summer holidays!). Unfortunately, this leaves us with fewer performers than we need to run the event successfully. To set up and take down the stage, kit and P.A takes around 16 hours of hard work from my small team of incredible volunteers, not to mention the logistics of transportation and then setting the kit back up in the studio.

With only 18 performers confirmed, compared to the usual 50+, it just isn’t feasible to make the event happen this year.

I know many of you were looking forward to performing and attending, and I’m truly sorry for the disappointment.

Rest assured, Cinderford Drumfest *2026* will go ahead as planned, and I’ll be working to choose dates that avoid a clash with the start of the summer holidays.

Looking forward to the next one!
