Schools are providing young people with better guidance than at any time in living memory. In spite of this, there are strategies that young people really need to know...but they don't know what they are and they don't realise that they really need to know them. Aspire Academy programs enhance those provided by schools and colleges, enabling young people to thrive in the job market.

So it's now official. Trump wants nothing to do with Europe, including the U.K. N.A.T.O. is dead but if the Americans want to wage a war in the Middle East they will expect us to give unlimited access for their planes to use our R.A.F. bases and expect us to see it as a privilege that we're even being asked. And there's never been a British Prime Minister, not in my life-time, who ever had the courage to say "no you can't." The trans-Atlantic Alliance is no more, that's if it ever was.

Before retiring, I spent nearly 40 years in the corporate world and then running a business of my own. Whether negotiating deals on behalf of my employer or myself, it was always my policy to make sure that I exceeded my client's expectations. For example, if I was confident that I could arrange delivery in 3 days, I would ask my client: "Will it give you a problem if delivery takes a week?" Assuming the answer was "no," I preferred them to be surprised by how quickly their order was honoured, rather than spend the next fortnight chasing an order that hadn't materialised. If a problem arose, I always shared it with clients and what I shared was always a "worst case scenario." Not once did anyone ever accuse me of practicing deception by using such an approach! I was usually their "preferred supplier." Rachel Reeves recently spent a couple of weeks preparing us for a "shock budget." When it finally appeared, most of us breathed a huge sigh of relief because we were expecting far worse. According to the great British press, SHE HAS TO GO. Why? Give the poor lady a break!

Our problems are far from over but is this the night that the country finally came to its senses?

I never thought I'd see the day when an 86 year old man with dementia would be admitted to hospital after a fall and then discharged without his dentures. It wasn't until his wife got him back to the car that she noticed and asked: "Ron where are your teeth?" As they have no access to an N.H.S. dentist, the cost of a replacement set is £650, which they can't afford. So they have to charge it to an already impoverished hospital, which she does not want to have to do.

I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of the never ending sleaze and smearing of political opponents we're treated to throughout the election campaign. Who put these people there? We did! Who tolerates this? We do! So I will be emailing the following message to everyone who puts a leaflet through my door asking for my vote:

"Whichever party you support and whatever is in your manifesto, I will consider voting for you only if you pledge your personal commitment to integrity in all your dealings and respect for political rivals who have a much right to sit in the House as any other person who's been democratically elected. I look forward to your reply."

We have the right to insist on honourable behaviour from our elected representatives. We have the power to do so. It's time we did.

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of the sleaze associated with politics. I'm sick and tired of the smear campaign being launched at opponents. So, each candidate who puts a leaflet through my door is going to receive an email from me saying the following:

"Whatever party you represent, whatever is contained in your manifesto, I refuse to consider voting for you unless you pledge your personal support for integrity in all your dealings and complete respect for opponents who have as much right to sit in The House as anyone who's been democratically elected. I invite your response."

We may detest the way these people behave but WE put them there. WE have the right, WE have the power to insist they behave honourably. It's time we exercised that power.

A few years ago, Labour M.P., Jo Cox was murdered in her own constituency surgery by a member of the public. The event was greeted with shock and horror by the entire nation and rightly so. Tributes poured in from both sides of the house. But it took Jo's death to trigger this response. Before that, no-one on the conservative benches had a good word to say for Jo Cox. She was, after all, a socialist wasn't she?
A few years later, the same fate befell Sir David Amess, a Conservative member. As before, his murder was also greeted by shock and horror. As before, tributes came in from all sides of the house. As before, though, it took his death to trigger such a response. Before that, Labour members didn't have a good word to say about him. He was, after all, a member of "the nasty party."
This state of affairs is deplorable. It seems that, in their own estimation, the only good M.P. is a dead one. Is it any wonder that we hold them in such low regard? Yet we are the ones that elect such people. It's time we made it clear that we're not prepared to any longer. I'm getting closer to suggesting how we might do that.

Dear Friends,

I received a telephone call yesterday purporting to be from Barclaycard, drawing my attention to a possible fraud on my card. Fortunately, I did what I always do on such occasions, I rang the Barclaycard Customer Service number on the back of my credit card.

They reassured me that there was no such alert relating to my card and that the call itself was a scam. No harm has resulted, but it does show how careful we all have to be.

Please share with anyone who needs to know.

Best Wishes,

Barry.

Yes, I know it's supposed to be a video again, but my recording function is giving problems. Now, if what I'm going to suggest at the end of the series is so breathtakingly simple, why don't I just get to the point and cut out the crap? I could, but I want to explain why both suggestions are so important and why they're going to make such a difference if we do them.

It must be obvious that politicians are the very ones who reinforce the image that none of them is to be trusted. Their smear campaigns against ALL their opponents leaves us in no doubt that ALL of them believe that everyone but them is either dishonest, incompetent or both. Does ANYONE believe that no-one outside their own party ever comes up with a good idea? An idea worth appreciating?

When Winston Churchill stood against Hi**er, it's worth reminding ourselves that most of his support came from the Labour benches. That's what "loyal opposition" means. It shouldn't mean opposing everything everyone else says on principle. Thank goodness Churchill didn't reject their support on the grounds that it came from the oppositi0on benches!

There's inflation and there's "headline" inflation. They're obviously not the same thing but I've no idea what the difference is. What I do know is that the one the government quotes is in single figures. However, my annual motor insurance has just come up for renewal and it's increased from about £450 to just over £700. I can't drive around uninsured. I'd be breaking the law, so it's not optional. It's never going to taken into account when calculating inflation rate but it doesn't half increase my cost of living.
