MGC is one of the oldest clubs in 🇬🇧
We fly 7 days a week Apr-Sept; weekends + 1 weekday Oct-Mar. MGC is one of the oldest clubs in the UK with all year round operation, seven days a week April to October and offers wave, thermal and ridge soaring for novice and accomplished pilots. We run glider pilot training courses throughout the summer and welcome visiting expeditions. Experience flights (by

prior arrangement) make fantastic presents, especially at Christmas. View “741” video from Tim Orchard on Vimeo . On our extensive airfield (about 134ha), the club buildings include hangar, glider workshops, winch garage and workshop, heated parachute storage, battery charging, a comfortable clubhouse with dining room, tv room, lounge, bar, office, briefing room, and overnight accommodation in centrally heated bunkrooms and private rooms with modern showers and toilet facilities. You do not have to own a glider to fly at the Mynd. The club owns a comprehensive fleet of gliders, and a motor glider. Many people own their own glider, often in syndicates of up to 8 people sharing costs between the syndicate members. Syndicate members and private owners can keep their gliders at the club and have the same rights to use club aircraft.

UK JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP 2026!

Each year, suitably experienced young pilots can enter the Junior National Gliding Championship. The competition is financially supported by the BGA and delivered by a gliding club which provides the facilities and competition organisation expertise.

This year, we're delighted that the competition is being hosted by Lasham Gliding Society from the 22nd - 30th August. Weather permitting, it will be a great competition! And in any case, great fun!

DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION

Competition pilot coaching takes place alongside the championship. Expert coaches equipped with several high performance two-seat gliders, some of which are generously loaned to the event, will be helping to develop and inspire the next generation of Junior championship pilots.

Young pilots - if you get the chance, why not take the opportunity to visit the Junior Championships at Lasham to see what it's all about?
