Everyone talks about building hours. But what are you actually building? ✈️🇬🇧
Going abroad can offer cheaper flying and better weather and for some pilots, it can absolutely make sense.
But hour building isn't just about getting the numbers in your logbook.
Flying in the UK can mean learning to work with changing weather, navigate complex airspace, plan cross-country routes, make go/no-go decisions and adapt when things don't go to plan.
And then there's the real cost of going abroad — accommodation, transport, flights, food, insurance and time away from home.
So before you compare aircraft rates, ask yourself:
Where will these hours give me the most useful experience?
