We are recruiting – Foundation Stage Practitioner & Out of School Club Assistant

East Worlington Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and motivated Early Years professional to join our team from September 2026.

This part-time, term-time opportunity combines:

* Foundation Stage Practitioner – 24 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
* Out of School Club Assistant – 7 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

Grade C: £13.47–£13.69 per hour, depending on experience

The successful candidate will work alongside teachers and senior staff to provide high-quality Early Years practice within a creative and stimulating learning environment. You will support individuals and groups of children, deliver engaging activities and contribute to our excellent provision.

We are looking for a candidate who holds a recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification, suitable Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualifications, and who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, patience, positivity and a commitment to positive behaviour management and teamwork.

The additional Out of School Club role offers the opportunity to engage children in a range of activities within a relaxed, safe environment.

The posts are fixed term until 31 August 2027, when they will be subject to review.

Chulmleigh Academy Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our premises team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, security and Health & Safety across our school sites.

Key details:
• Permanent position
• 30 hours per week, all year round
• Grade C: £13.47–£13.69 per hour, depending on experience (pay award pending)
• Start date: September 2026
• Primarily based at Chulmleigh College, with duties across all Trust schools

The successful candidate will contribute to site maintenance, Health & Safety, porterage, keyholder and security duties, first aid cover and the general development of safe, well-maintained school environments.

A full, clean driving licence with D1 privileges is essential, as driving Trust vehicles, including a minibus, will be a regular part of the role.

We are looking for someone who is a strong team player, has a ‘can do’ approach, an eye for detail and the ability to work independently.

GCSE Results Day 2026 at Chulmleigh College

Today we are celebrating another fantastic year of achievement at Chulmleigh College, as our Year 11 pupils received their GCSE results.

The average grade across the year group was 5.3, with a quarter of all grades at grade 7 or higher.

The average grade across the challenging English Baccalaureate measure was also grade 5, with almost two thirds of pupils achieving the measure.

There were some particularly strong performances across a number of subjects, with Mathematics enjoying a bumper year of top grades, including excellent results in Further Mathematics GCSE. Web are also delighted to see an increased number of grade 9s and 8s this year.

We are equally proud of our Year 10 pupils, who received their Religious Studies GCSE results after taking the qualification a year early. A large number achieved grade 7 or higher, putting them in a really strong position for their final examinations in 2027.

These results are a wonderful reflection of the hard work, determination and commitment shown by our young people, not just this year but throughout their time in education.

A huge thank you to our pupils for all their hard work, to their families for their support, and to our teachers, teaching assistants and all College staff who have helped them along the way.

At Chulmleigh, we always encourage our pupils to give nothing but their best - and today is a fantastic example of what that can achieve.

Congratulations to everyone receiving their results today. We are incredibly proud of you! 💙

We were delighted to hear of Zak's amazing news last week!

A clean sweep of A* at A'level following his 10 x Grade 9s at GCSE at Chulmleigh College two years ago.

This success is thoroughly deserved - well done Zak!

Results Day Spotlight: Our Pathway to Higher Education 🎓

This year we achieved a record 99.67% A Level pass rate, over the national average of 97.89%.

Significantly, 89% of our learners achieved A*-C. The national average is just 78%. Exeter College also surpassed the national average for Grammar Schools for the first time in the college's history.

Zak studied Maths, Physics and Geography at A Level. With three A*s under his belt, he is off to study Earth Science at the University of Oxford.

"The teachers here really make use of the time, and they really help you outside of lessons with guided work and what you actually should be doing at home. There’s a really clear sort of standard of what you need to be doing outside a lesson. In lessons, the teaching is great, and there are some really amazing teachers."

GCSE and BTEC Results Day - 20th August 2026

GCSE and BTEC results will be available for pupils to collect on August 20th from Heywood Hall as follows:

10.00-12.00 - Year 11 pupils

11.00-12.00 - Year 10 pupils

For pupils with the new results app - we expect this to update at 2pm.

Exeter and North Devon College Group staff are supporting the results day and are able to give immediate advice and guidance to pupils regarding College courses.

We are looking forward to seeing pupils on Thursday - good luck to you all.

Level 3 (A'Level and BTEC etc) Results Day 2026

We wish all young people receiving examination results on 13th August good luck - we hope the results open all the doors you wish for (and maybe some exciting ones you had not even thought about).

What an incredible way to end the school year!

At our final assembly, we had the privilege of saying thank you to David Worden as he retires after an extraordinary 49 years of service to Chulmleigh College.

Generations of pupils and families will remember Mr Worden as an inspiring teacher, but his contribution has gone far beyond the classroom. Over the years, he has also given countless hours as a governor, Trustee and volunteer, helping to shape the College and our wider Trust.

Many people will also know David through his dedicated public service as a South Molton Town Councillor and North Devon Councillor, where he currently serves as Chair of North Devon Council.

Our CEO, Neil Payne, summed it up perfectly:
"When I think of public service, high standards and selfless service of others – I think of David."

Everyone at Chulmleigh Academy Trust would like to thank David for his remarkable commitment, kindness and dedication over nearly five decades. His impact on our school community will be felt for many years to come.

Please join us in wishing David a long, happy and well-deserved retirement. Thank you for everything, Mr Worden!
