Angular unconformity at Barnhill Quarry
Exposed in the walls of a now-disused quarry, this great example of an angular unconformity is displayed for all to marvel at.
The steeply westward-dipping Carboniferous (340 million year old) limestones are unconformably overlain by Triassic (220 million year old) deposits laid in a flash-flood / wadi-type environment, meaning the whole of the Permian period is missing here!
Wow!
Just a high-speed, vehicle-carrying- catamaran, zooming across the English Channel on a sunny day!
The power of those engines!
