π FUTURE CALLING | Closing When the coach became the learner againβ¦
πΈ On Court Reflection
A season doesn't end when the final match is played.
It ends when you look back and see how far the team has come.
π My Story
Looking back, this was never really about running.
It wasn't about a wedding dress, a finish line, or even recovering from injury.
It was about learning β through experience, through the people around me, and through reflecting on both.
Every environment shaped me differently.
Badminton taught me performance.
Injury taught me patience.
A player's question taught me humility.
The thread running through all of it is simple.
The coach keeps becoming the learner.
I hope I never stop.
π§ Coaching Insight
Growth doesn't come from arriving.
It comes from staying open to learning.
π― How This Shapes My Coaching
None of this happened alone. A personal trainer and nutrition coach have quietly supported this journey since 2020 β building habits, understanding nutrition, and believing in progress I couldn't always see for myself.
If this series has reminded you of someone who's done the same for you, today might be a good day to tell them.
π± This Week's Reflection
The story doesn't end here. It just moves into its next chapter.
β Future Calling Question
What future is quietly calling you β and what would happen if you answered it?
π **Helping busy adults rediscover confidence, health and performance using coaching principles that work in sport and everyday life.** If you've been following this series and it's resonated, I'd love to talk β drop me a message.

π FUTURE CALLING | Part 6 The Conversation That Changed Everything
When the coach became the learner againβ¦
One of my players asked me a simple question.
"What do you use visualisation for?"
Halfway through my answer, I realised I wasn't following my own advice.
Sometimes our greatest teachers aren't standing at the front of the room.
They're standing on the other side of the net.
β Future Calling Question
Who has taught you something without realising it?

π FUTURE CALLING | Part 5 The Story We Tell Ourselves
When the coach became the learner againβ¦
πΈ On Court Reflection
Every player has an inner commentary running mid-match.
"Too slow." "You've lost this." "Don't mess up the next shot."
Good coaching helps players notice that voice β and choose not to follow it.
π My Story
Recovery from injury wasn't only physical.
A different kind of voice got louder.
"Try harder."
"You're falling behind."
"You're not doing enough."
I recognised it instantly. I'd helped players challenge that exact voice for years.
I just hadn't been using my own advice.
The toughest opponent wasn't standing across the net.
It was the conversation happening in my own head.
π§ Coaching Insight
Awareness doesn't switch the voice off.
It gives us a choice about whether to believe it.
π― How This Shapes My Coaching
Helping someone change often starts with helping them hear β and question β the story they're telling themselves.
π± This Week's Reflection
Notice the voice today. Then ask: would you say that to someone you were coaching?
β Future Calling Question
Which story are you rehearsing most often?
π Quick one too β tag someone who needs to hear this today.

π FUTURE CALLING | Part 4 When Life Changed the Route
When the coach became the learner again...
πΈ On Court
Sometimes the game doesn't go to plan.
An injury.
A setback.
A season that doesn't unfold the way we hoped.
Good players don't always play the perfect shot.
They learn to play the next one.
My Story
Just one week after completing my second half marathon, I injured my back.
Everything stopped.
Running became walking.
Training became rehabilitation.
Progress became patience.
I spent months rebuilding strength I thought I'd already earned.
It was frustrating.
But recovery taught me something I hadn't expected.
Changing direction isn't the same as giving up.
Sometimes life changes the route so we can learn something we couldn't have discovered on the original path.
π§ Coaching Insight
As coaches, we often focus on achieving goals.
Life reminds us that growth also happens when our plans change.
Sometimes resilience isn't pushing harder.
It's adapting well.
π― How This Shapes My Coaching
Whether I'm coaching badminton players or helping busy adults rediscover confidence, health and performance, I encourage people to stop judging themselves by the speed of their progress. The goal may stay the same. The route is allowed to change.
π± This Week's Reflection
Not every detour is a delay.
Some become the very path that helps us grow.
