Under the Sea🐳🐬🐸🐠🐡🦐
This week Miss Charlotte gave our Owls Children an ‘under the sea’ themed dance lesson where the children had their own waves and moved them in time with the music. Throughout the lesson the children walked liked crabs and waved their arms like sting rays!
After the dance class our children began playing in an ‘under the sea’ water tray. Everyone loved naming all of the different creatures such as “sharks” “sea horses” and “seals”.
Whilst playing in the water tray one of the children began to sing “three little speckled frogs…” until all of her friends joined in with the song too.
After a while some of the children came away from the water tray and sat at our arts and crafts table where they began to create their own “speckled frogs”

Teddy Bears Picnic week 🐻
This week at nursery all of our classrooms have taken part in ‘Teddy Bears Picnic week’
As a nursery we chose to celebrate this theme from the 1900’s as it was created to ‘celebrate the joy of spending quality time with friends and family’ and we have done just that ❤️
Our children in Snails (0-2years) have explored this theme by reading ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ and then playing in a sensory tray full of areas in the book such as ‘thick oozy mud’ and ‘long wavy grass’
The children in snails have also enjoyed making ‘bear’ footprint paintings and snuggling up for cosy story times in their pyjamas.
Throughout the week our children in Frogs and Hedgehogs (2-3years) have really enjoyed learning all about bears and their natural habitats. Some of the children enjoyed a trip to the local woods where they searched for bears whilst the other children collected items such as leaves and sticks ready to turn their classroom den into a bear cave!
Whilst inside nursery the children in Frogs amd Hedgehogs have enjoyed playing “Goldilocks” whilst feeding their bears, as well as making invitations to their tea party and baking their own biscuits ready for their picnic! 🐻
Finally we have our Owls classroom (3-5years) who have spent all week enjoying role play activities! The week began with the children taking part in a ‘Let’s chat’ activity where each child introduced their teddy bears and spoke about why they were special ❤️
From this all of the children started playing alongside each other pretending to be “mummy bear” and “baby bears” which led to the children painting their own bear masks!
As the week continued the children in Owls enjoyed a range on activities from building dens, going on woodland bear hunts, meeting pudsey bear and much more!
Towards the end of the week the children in Owls also had a Teddy bears picnic for their tea. Throughout the picnic all of the children sat and discussed where else they may have a picnic, some of the children said “on a plane” whilst other children said “where the rollercoasters are!”
Once the picnic was finished all of the children jumped straight back into a roll play activity but this time they were pretending to be on a plane.
Our children in Owls started their week loving teddy bears and ended their week having dinner on a plane but throughout all of this they have built on their relationships, developed a new understanding of the world, learnt new words and phrases and created their own child led fun! Following on from this, next week Lauren and Natalie will be focusing on a new provocation of ‘Travel’.

Recently our nursery manager completed an outdoor's training course with the theme 'exploring outdoors through Autumn and Winter.' Following on from this course, as a nursery we have made new Autumn scavenger hunt posters and today our Owls and Hedgehog children went out on the hunt with one of their new posters.
The children all loved searching for different objects such as orange leaves and acorns and then enjoyed sharing what they had found with their friends.
We have lots of different posters available such as 'bird detective' and 'Autumn inspirations' if any of our families would like a copy for activity ideas at home.

This morning the children in Hedgehogs have been embracing the Halloween spirit and have made their own spiders and bats! The children used their hand prints and fingers to make the shape of the spiders and then painted folded plates to make the bats🎃🕷🦇
