Our new Book Club for Years 7 and 8 is proving really popular in the library – combining a love of reading with crafts, creativity and imagination 🤗
Students have been making story cubes to describe characters, books or authors; hand-making bookmarks; and a sea of words.
Next, they’ll be choosing books to read sections of and working on group projects together.

🌈 Having Pride books in our library is essential for fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance for all students. These books help promote inclusivity and diversity within our school community.
🌈 They also provide a platform for discussing and addressing the issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community, which is crucial for building a supportive and inclusive environment, and can contribute to the wellbeing and mental health of students, as well as educate them about the importance of equality and acceptance.
🌈 is a fantastic opportunity to read, discuss and display some beautifully inclusive books for all year groups.

⚽🏀 Meet some of our amazing Sports Leaders 🏒🏃♀️
Our Sports Leaders give their time outside of school to support the wonderful work of Chorley School Sports Partnership, helping primary school children to develop a love of sports and keeping active.
Emily says: “I remember doing events with Chorley School Sports Partnership when I was in primary school and it was always lots of fun. I wanted to do something to help them and give back, so I can help to give others the same experiences and opportunities I had.”

Albany students showed yet again that they are amazing linguists by taking part in the Summer term online vocabulary competition on Languagenut, competing against schools across the UK.
Their French and Spanish teachers were extremely impressed by their enthusiasm and commitment to earning lots of points on the UK leaderboard. Well done in particular to Year 8 student Evie who achieved an amazing 817,600 points!

Well done to our students who have taken part in the Unleash Your Drive golfing initiative ⛳
The scheme teaches pupils essential life skills through golf, helping them to develop resilience, adaptability and confidence while enabling them to perform consistently under pressure. It also promotes ambition, positivity and perseverance 🤩
The boys really enjoyed the course which took place in school, and have been presented with certificates.

BEST OF LUCK to Abbey from Year 10 who’s gearing up for her first ever 5k run – she’s raising money for Cancer Research UK Race for Life by taking on the Preston Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course in Avenham and Miller Park in a couple of weeks!
She says: “My mum did it a few years ago and it looked like fun, so we’re both doing it this time, with my auntie and some friends as well.
“I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m excited.”
