Year 10’s The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze practice expedition was a great success last month!
39 students walked from the Anderton Centre to Causeway House Farm and back – camping overnight along the way 🏕️
They learned to navigate (without phones!), set up camp, cook, and work as a team. Well done everyone!

Some students who had demonstrated exceptional behaviour and had gone above and beyond in their efforts at school were treated to a special day at The Open at Royal Birkdale in Southport just before the summer break 🏌🏼♂️⛳🛺
They enjoyed meeting some of the pro golfers and watching them train, and had a go themselves on the golf simulators.

Just before the break, Year 8 students enjoyed an unforgettable day in London that brought their learning to life.
Pupils climbed Elizabeth Tower and stood beside the famous Big Ben bells, discovered the workings of Parliament, and had the privilege of meeting Speaker of the House of Commons and Chorley’s MP, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, in the Speaker’s House.
The day continued with a visit to the UK Supreme Court, where students experienced the justice system in action. Along the way, they also saw Downing Street, explored the traditions and ceremonies of Horse Guards Parade, and ended their day at the iconic Buckingham Palace.

Open water can be more dangerous than it looks – even for strong or confident swimmers, cold water shock is a real risk, or there could be underwater currents which aren’t obvious from the surface.

🌟 Meet our new Head Students 🌟
Emily and Alfie are looking forward to being ambassadors of our school and introducing new ideas after the summer break.
Emily says: “I’d like to create a school council for students in years 7 to 9, because we have the Student Leadership Team and Senior Prefects in years 10 and 11, and I think it will provide a good opportunity for the younger students to give feedback and get involved as well.”
Alfie adds: “I’m proud to be a role model and to help my school in this way. I’d like to introduce a suggestion box for all students to put forward any ideas they have, or raise any concerns.
“I’ve been at Albany since Year 7 and it’s a nice environment with supportive teachers, so I’m pleased that I’m able to help people too in my final year here.”
Congratulations to you both! 🤩
