Hedghogs shoe shop!

Following on from their visit to the shoe shop yesterday, Some of our hedgehog children have really enjoyed trying on various shoes today and going to buy them from the shop! We looked at taking turns, waiting to try the shoes on and we also looked into money! As you can see they had a great time in the Hedgehogs shoe shop.

If anyone would like to donate any old shoes, childrenโ€™s or adults to their shoe shop or any old shoe boxes, or even if someone has an old shoe horn that they would no longer like please pass them onto a member of the team. ๐Ÿ‘ž

Frogs ๐Ÿธ

Following on from the frog children showing high interests in jumping yesterday. Today The frog pond was set up for the children to explore. Jade set out lily pads, green soft play, the five little speckled frog song from the other day, the thatโ€™s not my frog book and various other items. The children in the frog room enjoyed exploring all things green and of different textures. The children were also encouraged to use their gross motor movements and hand eye coordination by making their way through and over some of the objects, at the frog pond.

This afternoon the children went outside and tried to find as many bugs as they could which had been hidden outside. Armed with their magnifying glasses they went on a hunt! The children got to explore the environment around them as they searched. The frog room children then started throwing and catching the bugs so we then diverted our attention onto mastering these skills.

Frogs have had an amazing provocation week, starting off with the story thatโ€™s not my frog. We cannot wait to see what they get up to next week following on from this!

Last day this week of Snails provocations ๐ŸŒ

Following on from our visit to the pet shop yesterday, when our babies showed a keen interest and where in owe of the fishes at the pet shop, we have created our own under the sea experience. We have used nosies to mimic the sounds for under the sea, we have also placed in there various under water creatures for the children to explore, plants bubbles, stories relating to under the sea where our babies matched up the sea creatures in the book. We also used various materials, turned off the lights and used a projector light from our sleep room to create the ultimate sensory experience for our under water loving babies.

Our babies were mesmerised all afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed exploring and looking at all the animals, listening to and looking at the sounds and lights and listening to Jessโ€™s under the sea story.

Our Snails have had an amazing provocation week and we hope you have enjoyed coming on the journey with us, from starting with the hungry caterpillar and ending up under the sea! We are going to continue this into next week also and seeing where this takes us.

A day in the life of a frog ๐Ÿธ

Continuing on from the story thatโ€™s not my frog, the children in the frog room have really enjoyed making frog masks. This was to encourage our frog children with learning new language, colours, numbers and new songs. The children really enjoyed decorating their masks using various colours, the children then really enjoyed matching up the lids of the paint sticks to the paint sticks. This sparked a great interest interest in colour matching.

We then explored a messy pond with frogs and lily pads! This encouraged exploring new and various textures, using our senses to explore, early language development, looking at different bugs as well as frogs. One of the children spotted the spider so this led onto singing Incy Wincy Spider.

We then decided to get out various materials such as crinkly foiled paper. Once we started to move this, it sounded quite noisy which seemed to spark interest of the children they seemed excited and started to jump around! This encouraged the development of gross motor skills we also used a tent which encouraged exploration of the enclosing schema.

What an amazing time had! Well done Frogs ๐Ÿธ

To the pet shop! ๐Ÿ›

Following on from yesterdayโ€™s interest in the bug tray in snails, Jess and Elli took the babies to the pet shop this afternoon. They got to explore the shop and have a look at the various animals. They got to see, rabbits, a tortoise, fish and much more!

Our trip enhanced the childrenโ€™s knowledge and understanding of various animals and exploring them in real life. Creating opportunities for new vocabulary. We also worked on encouraging their gross motor development when getting out of the prams and walking around the pet shop.

What a lovely trip out this afternoon, come back tomorrow for our final instalment of snails provocation week ๐Ÿ˜

Yesterdays expansion on the hungry caterpillar ๐Ÿ›

Moving on from exploring the real food yesterday, we worked on expanding our senses further and had various coloured and scented play dough for our babies to work on their fine motor skills this also again, focused on their cognitive growth through sensory exploration of the texture, colour and smell. We used, sweet cinnamon, vanilla and orange extract. We were all making marks, exploring colours and shapes.

Then in the afternoon, we looked at exploring other bugs as well as butterflies and caterpillars, with our edible bug tray! This again encouraged exploring textures, tastes and smells. This also expanded on various bugs, insects and small creatures. This also encouraged our babies to repeat new words throughout this activity!

Well done Snails ๐ŸŒ
