For 28 days, Mrs Climpson and Mr Johnston took 6 Parklands students to Peru as part of a Camps International Expedition. Week one was spent working in a really remote community, building a community kitchen and bathroom facilities for the teachers at the local school. During week two, they spent 5 days hand mixing concrete for a basketball court! Week three consisted of making concrete seating for the local football pitch and painting a mural on a kindergarten school wall. Week four was spent trekking the Salkantay trail to Machu Picchu. Mrs Climpson said that our students were amazing: they threw themselves into every challenge, every day, of physical hard work, at altitude; they tried food they never had before (guinea pig and alpaca); they even showered in a baby bath of water. Our students were an absolute credit to the school and a huge thank you to Mrs Climpson and Mr Johnston for giving up their summer holidays to take our students on a once in a lifetime trip! ⛰️🥾👩🏼‍🌾☀️🎨🦙👷🏼
