iBSL would like to to wish you all a Happy International Week of Deaf People!
International Week of Deaf People 2022
Every year since 2009, World Federation of the Deaf Ry (WFD) have celebrated International Week of Deaf People during the last week of September.
19 - 25 September 2022 this year sees a campaign on the theme: “Building Inclusive Communities For All” focusing on raising global awareness of issues within Deaf communities. (https://wfdeaf.org/iwdeaf2022/). Daily subthemes include Sign Language in Education, Health for All, Intersectional Deaf communities and many more!
The Institute of British Sign Language (https://ibsl.org.uk), the only Deaf-led charity to lead on BSL at its highest standard, aims to address the gap between hearing learners and Deaf communities. We want to encourage more and more learners to learn our native and unique British Sign Language by building inclusive communities together.
The trustees and staff at iBSL would like to wish all tutors, centres and learners across the world a very happy International Week of the Deaf.
