‘Evolve’ is a brand new drama group, which is being set up in Chorley and will be housed at Chorley Theatre’s new space - ‘The Studio’ every Saturday from 25 September 2021. The group is being managed by Zoe Jones, who has been involved with Chorley Theatre for over 30 years and who is about to direct their pantomime ‘The Snow Queen’ this December. Also helping to support the group is Mark Jones who has been Artistic Director of Chorley Theatre for over 8 years and who has directed 15 productions, 7 of which are from his original writing. Mark is also a qualified ‘Trainer’ and has over 20 years experience of developing people of all ages. Zoe and Mark will be delivering the workshops each Saturday. Aside from their vast experience in the world of theatre and people development, they also possess DBS enhanced certificates. Zoe and Mark are a wife and husband team who met at Chorley Theatre in 2004 and have now been married 12 years, between them they have 5 children and so are very experienced in the development and creativity of young people. The ‘Evolve’ drama group will focus on drama and personal development, dance and singing will not be included, as Zoe said ‘There are lots of good performing arts type schools in the Chorley area, but they mostly focus on dancing, singing and musical theatre. Our focus is on drama and personal development and making sure all our students have fun’. The Saturday sessions will run from September to July each year:-
9.30am-10.30am for ages 8-10
11am-12pm for ages 11-12
1pm-2pm for ages 13-16
The cost of each session will be £5.00 per person. Each week ‘Evolve’ will focus on all aspects of drama:- improvisation, games, working on selected texts, understanding acting technique, and also on the personal development of our students in areas such as confidence building and how to positively express yourself.
