We are delighted to welcome Stefan Kolberg and Clive Lutley, amongst others, from Friedberg, who are visiting Chippenham as part of our town twinning programme.

We would like to thank them for this beautiful bench, now situated in Monkton Park, which marks 35 years of friendship between Chippenham and Friedberg.

Designed by Clive Lutley, the bench incorporates the skyline of Friedberg, providing a lasting reminder of the strong connection between our towns.

Chippenham is twinned with Friedberg in Germany and La Flèche in France. To find out more about our town twinning partnerships, visit Chippenham Twinning Association or bit.ly/_twinning

A reminder that next Thursday, 3 September, we will be marking Merchant Navy Day with a flag-raising ceremony at the Town Hall at 10am, which members of the public are welcome to attend.

Merchant Navy Day recognises the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women of the Merchant Navy who, during both World Wars, kept our island nation supplied. It also acknowledges the thousands of Merchant Navy seafarers who continue to play an important role in keeping our country supplied today.

The Red Ensign, the flag of the Merchant Navy, will be raised at the Town Hall as part of the ceremony.

A day in the life of our Environmental Services Team.

We have a dedicated team who work hard to keep the town clean and tidy. Their responsibilities are varied, but did you know they include maintaining a section of the river route, checking and preparing the Christmas lights for installation, and they make by hand, the Pop Up Park in market place?

You can notify the Environmental Services Team of any issues in Chippenham using Report It - bit.ly/_report-it

There are two free tennis sessions remaining this year, led by an LTA - Tennis For Britain licensed coach and experienced assistants.

Taking place on Saturday 29 August and Saturday 5 September, the sessions are a great opportunity for the Chippenham community to give tennis a go, get active and enjoy some time on the court, completely free of charge.

Whether you’re picking up a racket for the first time or looking to build your skills, everyone is welcome. The sessions are suitable for a range of ages and abilities, and all equipment is provided. Simply bring a water bottle and get ready to play!

Families are welcome to take part together. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
