Some photos from our amazing Scarecrow weekend, including photos of the Scarecrows from Acorns, our 2 school classes and the Admin Team. Huge thanks to everyone who helped by buying raffle tickets, donating chocolate and lucky dip items, making scarecrows, baking cakes, bringing your dancers along (that's you Miss Gemma!), helping out for an hour or two over the weekend, and of course coming along to our trail. We had great fun and raised a bit of money too!!

The children have loved our 'Winter' theme this term and thrown themselves enthusiastically into every activity. We have focused particularly on offering a wider variety of mark making opportunities and activities to develop their fine motor skills, helping to improve their finger strength and control in readiness for early writing. They have painted ice blocks using pipettes to squeeze out the paint, made patterns in shaving foam 'snow,' created snowmen and igloos from our homemade snow and playdough and used fork painting to produce beautiful polar bear pictures. It's been a busy few weeks here at Acorns! 😊❄⛄🐧

Some lovely fine motor skills and Maths activities on display this term following our 'Winter' theme. The children have enjoyed counting out the pom pom snowballs into our number trays, counting how many buckets they managed to fill with smashed ice and snow and using a variety of construction shapes to build 'Icebergs' and Ice palaces. They have been strengthening their finger muscles by moulding the Frozen themed playdough and threading beads to make sparkly snowflakes. ❄❄❄

Wishing all our Acorns children and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and restful New Year!! What an amazing month December was. Gruffalo's, Gingerbread men, Candy Canes, Cards, Snowmen, Gingerbread Houses, Nativity performance, Christmas lunch, Santa visit, Church service, Christmas party, Pass the Parcel, Games, Advent Calendar, Christmas stories, Christmas boxes and lots and lots of food!!! 🎄🎉🎅

This year Acorns have taken part in something very special for Christmas. We have joined in with 'Cardathon' which is organised by the RWB Rotary Club. This is where local community groups and organisations help to make over 200 handmade Christmas cards which are then distributed to ensure that every resident in local Residential care receives at least one Card this Christmas. There are many people who don't have a lot of family or friends and this incentive ensures to bring them some cheer at Christmas. We feel privileged to be a part of this lovely idea and the children were more than happy to get messy and glittery making beautiful Christmas tree and reindeer cards which have now been whisked off ready for delivery. 😄🎄🎄

Deadline day for Primary School applications is 15th January 2026 for children starting Reception in September 2026.
