A huge thank you to Artel31 for their generous donation of paint towards the rejuvenation of the Rotary Hall when we take over in September!

There is plenty of work ahead of us as we begin bringing some fresh life and colour back into the building, so support like this will make a genuine difference.

It is fantastic to be connecting with local businesses that share our enthusiasm for improving the hall and developing it into a welcoming, vibrant and affordable space for the whole community.

We are incredibly grateful to Artel 31 for getting behind the project and helping us take another step towards giving this much loved community venue the fresh start it deserves.

At Tora Kai Karate, we believe that strong communities are built by people and organisations who are willing to give something back. That’s why we’re delighted to be one of the sponsors of this year’s Kandu Arts Unlock-Reset Festival.

If you’re looking for something to do with the family on Saturday 1st August, this promises to be a brilliant day out, with live music, arts and crafts, food, a BBQ, bar, children’s activities and plenty more. It’s all about bringing people together and celebrating the amazing community we have here in Chippenham.

Join us at our sixth annual Kandu Arts Unlock-Reset Festival in Chippenham on the 1st August 2026 at Monkton Park Golf Course, from 1pm to 9:30pm, for a wonderful family day filled with music and creativity. Entry is by donation supporting Kandu Arts community projects, and there’ll be something for everyone: a storytelling and poetry tent, arts and crafts, food and drink stalls, a bouncy castle, a sandpit, and of course, amazing live music throughout the day.

A massive congratulations to all of our Tora Kai Chippenham students who graded this weekend! 🥋🧡

The soaring temperatures made an already demanding grading even more challenging, but every one of our students showed fantastic determination, resilience and spirit from start to finish.

Seeing our students push through adversity, support one another and demonstrate the values we work so hard to develop is something we’re incredibly proud of. Achievements like these aren’t just about earning a new belt or tag, they’re the result of weeks, months and, for many, years of consistent effort and commitment.

To everyone who stepped onto the mats: congratulations. Wear your new grade with pride, recover well, and then let’s get back to training for the next milestone.

☀️ Training Through the Heat ☀️

With temperatures set to climb this week, we’re making a few adjustments to our classes to ensure everyone can continue training safely and comfortably.

Martial arts isn’t just about pushing harder. It’s also about learning when to adapt, make good decisions and work with the conditions in front of you.

Our classes will continue as normal, but we’ll be placing a greater emphasis on technical development, coordination, partner work, kata and skill-building, with plenty of opportunities to rest and rehydrate.

For our younger students especially, this is a valuable lesson in itself. Progress isn’t always about intensity. Sometimes it’s about focus, patience and attention to detail.

Please make sure students bring a water bottle to class and arrive well hydrated.

Stay safe, look after one another, and we’ll see you in the dojo. 🥋🐯

Confidence in children is not fixed.

It can be built.
It can be strengthened.
It can be trained.

At Tora Kai Karate, we see this everyday, every week, every class..

Many children start karate feeling nervous, shy, unsure of themselves, or afraid to make mistakes. But through regular training, they begin to change.

Huge congratulations to all of our adult students who graded today.
For some, this was their very first grading, which is always a big step, and everyone should be incredibly proud of how they approached it. The standard across the board was really high, with great effort, strong spirit, and a clear reflection of the hard work being put in on the mats each week.

A brilliant achievement all round, well done everyone, keep building. 👊🥋
