Our children at the Old School building also celebrated the arrival of the Spring season in the best way they know: by exploring and learning!

Emphasising more on practising their motor skills and physical development, our children engaged in lots of walks around our community's parks; they planted vegetables using their hands as a sensory experience; and used only natural resources to put their cognitive skills to the test.

They have also had the opportunity to supervise the life cycle of frogs from their frogspawn stage, feeding them and changing their water whenever they need it!
Experiences like this increase the children's involvement and interest in nature and teach them commitment, connection and care for the world from an early age.

Spring has sprung at Snowdrop's Cottage building, and what better way to celebrate the start of a new season than by exploring all the exciting things it has to offer!

This spring, our children have focused their attention on the topic "How Things Grow", allowing them to immerse themselves in hands-on, real-life experiences related to themes such as planting, life cycles, and farming.

From babies to toddlers, they loved getting messy, planting seeds and watering them to make our garden (even) prettier and ready for the summer; enjoyed learning through sensory play about the natural progression of spring flowers and animals alike; and had fun getting together to explore farming and farm animals.

By connecting them directly with nature, we aim to enhance their sensorial and cognitive skills and allow them to form a deeper connection with the natural world that we hope will continue throughout their lives!

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day from our children and staff at Snowdrop Cottage! πŸ₯°

This week, it has brought us so much joy to talk about all those important and special people in our lives that we love and cherish so so much, and we have also enjoyed creating a little something for them to show how much we appreciate themπŸ’

Love is, definitely, all around at nurseryπŸ«‚

We have let our imagination loose by becoming builders doing some work at the 'Snowdrop Cottage' construction site!

Our children have turned nursery into a space where anything is possible, if you can imagine it. They have been able to take on their own challenges and worked on several skills, such as planning, questioning, assembling, testing, and most importantly, they have allowed themselves to fail and try again.

Construction play has shown to have many advantages in early years development helping the children's exploration and creativity, turn taking, collaborative play, language and physical skills.

This is a wonderful chance for our children to flourish and learn about the world and their own self.

Happy New Year from Snowdrop Cottage! πŸŽ†

Our children and team have had so much fun welcoming the new year with lots of fun...and snow!! ❄

In the first weeks of January, we have been exploring all things winter introducing real snow into our play, and learning about dinosaurs didactically whilst focusing on improving our fine and gross motor skills.

We cannot wait to see what the new year has in store for us, but, in the meantime we're sure we are going to make the most out of it at nursery!🏫

Testimonials like this are the reason why we do what we do✨

We feel very fortunate to have built a community and safe space where children can flourish and become the best version of themselves!

Don't take our word for it!... here's a piece of lovely feedback from one of our Snowdrop Cottage parentsπŸ«‚

At Snowdrop Cottage, the arrival of autumn has meant learning to connect with local nature in a positive and approachable way.

By teaching, inspiring, and nurturing nature play, we aim to provide children with plentiful tools to become confident and creative, helping them establish a long-term connection with the outdoors.

We have enjoyed playing nature bingo, going on a Gruffalo forest hunt, taking a closer look at the anatomy of autumn leaves by printing them, and discovering all sorts of creepy crawlies with our magnifying glasses at the park, amongst other fun activities!
We have even tasted seasonal vegetables by indulging in heart-warming homemade soups and bread made by our wonderful kitchen staff.

We love to see how our children's well-being flourishes whilst learning and playing outdoors.

Last week, our Daisies room engaged in all things safety!

From learning how to stay safe on the road to appreciating all the people who help us, they had a great time exploring new topics using various sensory play trays and activities!
