I learnt early on, through my own experiences, that education is a journey unique to each individual. As an educator understanding this is central to ensuring that all my lessons are tailored to the students strengths, interests and goals. Having completed a degree in English and English Language including modules on Teaching English as a Second Language, Children's Literature and Shakespeare to A

usten I am passionate about helping my students to appreciate this subject and succeed. It is clear that in order to fully engage with education, and indeed many other aspects of life, language skills are central. Our lessons will utilise each pupils interests and natural abilities to ensure they can effectively use the English language, in both written and verbal form. I have always held a passion for teaching, and in particular I have an interest in helping individuals who are disillusioned with mainstream education. All people learn in a different and unique way and by working one-one with students I am able to ensure the lessons focus on their preferred way to learn; allowing them to gain the most possible from each session. I work with students ranging from primary school age to adults looking to improve English skills. Most of my work is with students taking A-level, GCSE or Functional Skills exams and helping them to get the best grades possible from these. My students needs range from learning the basic sounds of reading to learning how to formulate answers to essay questions for A-level and GCSE grading. Had a lot of fun with one of my EAL classes this week, they interviewed each other about their dream homes and then drew what had been described. I don't think any of them asked for less than 10 rooms!
