Barnkids Nursery and Forest School Nursery and Forest School - Ages from 6 months to 4.5 years We offer a variety of flexible sessions between the hours of 8.00–18.00 from 6 months to pre-school.

Set on a farm within the Surrey Hills, Barnkids offers a stimulating, fun and secure place for children to learn and develop. The nursery consists of three rooms dedicated to meet your child’s individual developmental needs:
The Nest (6 months+)
Chicken Run (Toddlers)
The Barn (Pre-School)

All our rooms benefit from free flow access to secure outdoor areas and the children have the wonderful

opportunity to explore the wider environment across the farm. Our forest camp is a short walk from the nursery across farmland and allows the children freedom to immerse themselves in the natural world; inspiring and engaging them to use their imagination to create play where almost anything can be possible. Forest School is run by qualified and experienced staff and offers invaluable learning toward the early years curriculum. We run a popular After School Club with pick up from local schools and a Holiday Club for all children up to and including the age of 10 years old. Come rain or shine, we offer heaps of seasonal themed activities and make very good use of our exceptional surroundings. Come & meet us!

🏖️🚗 A Brand New Outdoor Space for Our Babies! 🚗🏖️

We're so excited to share one of our latest improvements to the Baby Room garden...

Our babies now have a beautiful brand new sandpit and a dedicated little car park, designed especially for our youngest learners to explore, play and develop their skills through outdoor learning.

Even more special... this fantastic area was built completely from scratch by our very own Laco! 👏

His hard work, creativity and attention to detail have transformed an unused area of the garden into a purposeful, exciting learning space that the children can enjoy every day.
The new sandpit will provide endless opportunities for exploration, imagination and sensory play, supporting children's physical development, communication and language, early mathematical concepts and collaborative play as they dig, fill, pour, build and create together.

Our brand new car park is already proving popular too! Whether the children are driving to work, visiting the shops or heading off on exciting adventures, imaginative play like this helps develop communication, social skills and creativity whilst having lots of fun.

At Barnkids, we are passionate about continually developing our environments to ensure they inspire curiosity, independence and meaningful learning experiences for every child.

A huge thank you goes to Laco for all of the time, care and hard work he has put into creating this fantastic space for our children. We really are so grateful for everything you do to make Barnkids such a wonderful place to learn and play.

🌱🌻 Introducing Our New Gardening Club! 🌻🌱

We are so excited to officially launch our brand new Barnkids Gardening Club!

A huge thank you to all of the parents who came along to join us. It was wonderful to see so many families getting involved, working alongside their children and creating memories together.

The children were incredibly proud of everything they planted and loved getting their hands dirty! Together we have transformed our allotment by planting:

🍎 Two fruit trees
🌿 A wonderful selection of herbs, including the children's favourite... Chocolate Mint!
🥕 A variety of hardy winter vegetables ready for the months ahead.

The children also worked hard to brighten up the front of our Preschool garden by filling the empty planters with beautiful flowers, creating a much more welcoming entrance while also encouraging bees, butterflies and other important wildlife to visit our nursery.

At Barnkids, we believe children learn best through real-life experiences. Gardening teaches so much more than simply planting seeds. It encourages patience, responsibility, teamwork, curiosity and an understanding of where our food comes from, whilst also helping children develop a love and respect for the natural world.

This isn't just a one-off activity either! Gardening Club is now becoming part of our curriculum, with the children taking responsibility each week for watering, weeding and caring for their growing crops. Watching the garden change through the seasons will be a wonderful learning experience for everyone.

Once our herbs are ready to harvest, we'll be inviting parents to take some home to use in their own cooking. We think there's something really special about children growing food and then seeing it enjoyed around the family dinner table.

A very special thank you also goes to Amber, who organised our very first Gardening Club. From planning the session and preparing everything in advance to getting stuck in with the planting alongside the children and families, Amber's enthusiasm and passion for gardening really shone through. Thank you, Amber, for helping make the day such a fantastic success!

A huge thank you once again to everyone who helped us get our Gardening Club off to such a fantastic start. We can't wait to watch our allotment grow over the coming months.

🌍💚 We've Been Awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award! 💚🌍

We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news with all of our Barnkids families...

Barnkids has officially been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award 2026–2027!

This national award recognises schools and early years settings that are committed to teaching children about sustainability and making a real difference to the environment. It celebrates the small changes that, together, can have a big impact on our planet.

Over the past few months, our children have worked so hard to become little eco champions. Together we have:
🌱 Created and developed our allotment.
🍓 Planted fruit, vegetables and herbs.
🌸 Grown flowers to encourage bees, butterflies and other wildlife.
♻️ Learnt about recycling and caring for our environment.
🌍 Explored ways we can reduce waste and look after the world around us.
🐞 Encouraged children to respect nature through outdoor learning and exploration.

The children have loved getting their hands dirty, watering plants, learning where food comes from and understanding how even the smallest actions can help protect our environment.

Receiving this award isn't the end of our journey, it's just the beginning!

Over the coming months we'll continue developing our allotment, growing more fruit and vegetables for the children to enjoy, creating new wildlife-friendly areas, encouraging biodiversity and helping our children become the next generation of environmentally responsible citizens.

A huge thank you to our wonderful children, families and staff who have supported our eco journey. Every seed planted, every flower grown and every conversation about caring for our planet has helped us achieve this fantastic recognition.

And finally... I have to admit, I may have been wearing our brand new Eco-Schools flag around the nursery for the last three hours with immense pride! 💚 I think I've earned that right! 😊

🦎🐍 ZooLab Comes to Barnkids! 🦔🐭

What an absolutely incredible couple of days we've had welcoming ZooLab to Barnkids!

From our youngest babies right through to our Preschool children, every child had the opportunity to enjoy an exciting, hands-on animal experience that sparked curiosity, built confidence and created memories that will last a lifetime.

We were incredibly lucky to meet some amazing creatures, including a snake, bearded dragon, giant African land snail, giant millipede, giant cockroach and a beautiful hedgehog. Each session was carefully adapted to suit the age of the children, ensuring everyone could take part in a safe, engaging and enjoyable way.

A huge thank you has to go to Ben from ZooLab, who was absolutely fantastic. His enthusiasm, patience and ability to capture the children's imagination was incredible. He explained everything in such a child-friendly way, encouraging the children to ask questions, learn fascinating facts and, most importantly, build their confidence around animals they may never have seen before.

One of the loveliest moments was watching children who were initially a little unsure gradually become confident enough to stroke or even hold some of the animals. There was never any pressure to join in, and every achievement, no matter how big or small, was celebrated.

Experiences like this support so many areas of learning. The children developed their understanding of the natural world, learnt about different habitats and animal care, expanded their vocabulary through meaningful conversations and practised listening, turn-taking and asking thoughtful questions. Above all, they developed confidence, curiosity and respect for living creatures.

The smiles, excitement and sense of wonder throughout the nursery were absolutely priceless, and it's safe to say ZooLab was a huge hit with both the children and the staff!

A massive thank you to Ben and ZooLab for such a memorable experience. We enjoyed it so much that we're already looking forward to welcoming them back to Barnkids in the future!

🐑🐴 A Fantastic Farm Experience at Barnkids! 🐰🐥
What an unforgettable day we had welcoming a very special farm to Barnkids!
One of the things we're passionate about is providing exciting, hands-on experiences that spark children's curiosity and bring learning to life. This week, every single child at Barnkids – from our babies right through to Preschool – had the opportunity to meet a wonderful variety of friendly farm animals.
To make the experience even more special, we also invited our families to join us throughout the day, giving children the opportunity to explore, learn and create lasting memories with the people who mean the most to them.
The children met sheep, a beautiful horse, a mum goat and her adorable baby goat, fluffy chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs, a bearded dragon, a snake and even a hedgehog!
There were smiles, giggles and moments of amazement around every corner as the children carefully stroked, held and observed each of the animals. For many of them, it was their very first opportunity to get so close to animals they had only ever seen in books or on television.
Experiences like this provide so much more than just excitement. The children developed confidence by trying something new, learnt how to approach and care for animals respectfully, explored the similarities and differences between different species and asked some fantastic questions throughout the sessions. It also supported communication and language, understanding of the world and encouraged empathy, kindness and respect towards living things.
Of course, it wasn't just the children who loved every minute... our staff were just as excited! It was wonderful to see everyone joining in, sharing the experience with the children and helping to create such a calm, engaging and memorable day for all.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success. It truly was one of those magical experiences that the children will be talking about for a long time to come.
We already can't wait for the next visit!

💙 Celebrating Father's Day at Barnkids 💙
At Barnkids, we love celebrating the special people in our children's lives, and this Father's Day was no exception!
To say thank you to all of the amazing dads, grandads and father figures, we started the day by treating them to a complimentary bacon bap along with a hot tea or coffee to enjoy before heading off to work. It was a small gesture to show just how much we appreciate everything they do.
The celebrations didn't stop there...
Later in the day, we welcomed our dads and grandads back to the nursery for one of our favourite events of the year, our Father's Day Car Wash!
Armed with buckets, sponges, bubbles and plenty of enthusiasm, the children took charge of washing the cars. There was lots of teamwork, laughter and, of course, plenty of water involved!
The children enjoyed it so much that once all of our visitors' cars were sparkling clean, they decided the Barnkids staff shouldn't miss out either... so our team cars received exactly the same treatment!

A special mention has to go to Carys, who seemed to enjoy being in charge of the hose just a little bit too much! Safe to say, everyone got a little wetter than planned! 😂

Events like these are about so much more than just having fun. They provide wonderful opportunities to strengthen our partnerships with families, create lasting memories and give children the chance to share special experiences with the people who mean the most to them.

Well, we're excited to say that's about to change!
Here at Barnkids, there has been so much happening over the past few months, and we can't wait to start sharing it all with you. From exciting learning experiences and special visitors, to outdoor adventures, children's achievements and behind-the-scenes glimpses into nursery life, our page will once again become a place to celebrate everything that makes Barnkids such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
We'll be sharing lots of photos and updates over the coming weeks, giving you a window into the fun, laughter and learning that takes place every single day.
