Today we held our leavers’ graduation presentation for all the children who are moving on to Reception class. Each child was presented with their own certificate, which included what they said they would like to be when they are older — answers ranged from unicorn, gladiator, firefighter, footballer and cat, to builder, monster truck driver, demon hunter, princess, fairy, Elsa and a gardener like daddy. Their ideas were brilliant and made us all smile.
We also gave each child a teddy bear to remember us by, along with a gift from their key worker. The ceremony was followed by a slideshow celebrating their last year at nursery, which was such a lovely way to look back on their time with us.
It was an emotional end to the year. We are so sad to say goodbye, but we wish every one of our leavers the very best of luck as they begin their next big adventure in Reception.

Today our nursery children performed their end of year show, Rapunzel, and they were all absolutely amazing. They have loved learning the songs, actions and enjoyed getting to know the story. It was wonderful to see them bring it all together on stage.
We are so proud of every single one of them, especially our nursery leavers who are heading up to Reception in September. They each had a role to play and performed it beautifully, with everyone taking part in a way that felt right for them. A huge well done to all the children.
A big thank you as well to St Mary's C of E Primary School Reception Class and Years 1 and 2, who came to watch the show and were such a brilliant audience.
The show was followed by our leavers’ graduation presentation. A separate post about that will follow.

Today we took our nursery leavers on a wonderful day out to Alice Holt in Farnham, and what a brilliant adventure it was. The children loved exploring the forest, racing around the open spaces and getting stuck into the marble runs.

After lunch, everyone (including the staff!) was treated to an ice cream, which went down very well on a warm day. We finished off our day with some time in the park, where the children played, climbed, chased and enjoyed every minute.

It’s always bittersweet — we have so much fun together, but knowing their time with us will soon be over makes days like this feel extra special. We will miss them very much.

We ended last week with our annual Bug Olympics sports day, and what a fantastic afternoon it was. The children had so much fun taking part in all the activities, and we treated them to an ice pop afterwards to cool down after all their hard work.

We also held an award ceremony, where every child received a gold medal — all very well deserved.

We finished the event with a water fight, which was a brilliant way to cool down on such a hot day and lots of fun for everyone.

We were very kindly invited to watch the dress rehearsal of St Mary’s School’s production of 'Oliver With A Twist' today, and we absolutely loved it.

All the children were amazing, confidently demonstrating their singing and acting skills — especially in the heat. They should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Also, a big well done to the teachers for all their hard work and involvement in putting together such a fantastic show.

Afterwards, our nursery children gave it a big thumbs up and were full of excitement on the walk back.

Thank you again to St Mary's C of E Primary School for having us. It was a wonderful experience for our little ones.

Today the nursery was visited by lots of very special friends — an Australian Tree Frog, North American Corn Snake, Asian Horsefield Tortoise, Giant African Millipede, Asian Forest Scorpion, Australian Bearded Dragon Lizard, Australian Sugar Glider, Chinchilla, African Meerkat, and a British Barn Owl.
The children had the chance to hold, touch, or gently stroke all these wonderful animals. We were so proud of them — they showed such great care, listened beautifully to Tasha the animal handler, and demonstrated real confidence when answering her questions and asking their own thoughtful ones.
Hands on experiences like this are incredibly valuable in the Early Years. They help children:
• Build confidence by trying new things in a safe, supported environment
• Develop language skills, learning new words and expressing their ideas
• Strengthen scientific thinking, observing closely, asking questions, and making connections
• Foster empathy and care for living things
• Deepen their understanding of the world, discovering animals they may never have seen before
• Engage all their senses, which is essential for early learning and brain development
It was a truly fantastic morning — full of curiosity, bravery, and lots of excited little faces.
A huge thank you to Living Things for visiting us today and bringing such an incredible selection of animals. Tasha, the animal handler, was incredibly knowledgeable and kept the children engaged from start to finish.
And a very special thank you to Chidd Panto — without their generous donation earlier this year, this wonderful experience would not have been possible.

We welcomed Haslemere Fire Service to our setting, and the children were absolutely thrilled. The firefighters showed us all the special clothing they have to wear when they fight a fire — poor Firefighter Chloe looked very hot in all her gear, which really helped the children understand how hard their job can be.
The children asked some brilliant questions, including “How big is your washing machine to wash all your clothes?” and “Why do you need to have your head covered?” Their curiosity and confidence made us very proud.
We then headed outside to find the fire engine parked in our playground. Every child had the chance to sit inside the truck — lots of happy, excited faces all round. After that, everyone had a turn holding the fire hose and spraying the water, including nursery staff, which was definitely a highlight.
It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We waved goodbye to the firefighters, and they treated us to flashing blue lights and a burst of the siren as they left — a perfect ending to a memorable visit.
Learning about people who help us is such an important part of early years education, helping children understand the roles these professionals play in keeping our community safe.

We are very happy to share our Ofsted report with you all.

https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/16/119986

The report is a true reflection of what we do every day here at our nursery — a place where children feel safe, valued, curious, and confident to explore. It captures the warmth of our environment, the quality of our teaching, and the strong relationships we build with our families.

I am incredibly proud of the wonderful nursery staff team. Their dedication, care, and hard work shine through in everything they do. They create a nurturing, engaging space where children can learn, grow, and enjoy every moment of their early years journey. This report recognises the commitment they show day in and day out, and we couldn’t be more delighted.

Thank you to our families for your continued support. We look forward to many more exciting days of learning and fun together.

The children had such a lovely morning enjoying water play today — the perfect way to stay cool in this hot weather.
We set everything up in the shade, so the children could splash, pour, fill, and explore while staying comfortable and refreshed. Water play is brilliant for early years development, supporting fine motor skills, problem‑solving, sensory exploration, and confidence.

With the sunshine set to continue, please remember how important it is for children to stay hydrated and to apply sun cream. A sun hat is also essential to help keep them protected while they enjoy their time outside.
