Well it all happened on Saturday 20th October - after a year of planning we got to celebrate the founding of Chichester High School for Boys 90 years ago.

Some 162 Old Cicestrians (former students and staff) and their partners had booked in coming from all over the world - New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, America and across Europe.

In the morning after coffee and a chance to meet old friends and view the extensive display of memorabilia going back to the very start of the school Old Cicestrians and their partners enjoyed a video welcome from Tim Peake the astronaut and an old boy then a detailed presentation about the school's early years written by OC Chairman Bill Allen and presented by actor and author David Wood.

Then there was a lively presentation led by former Deputy Head John Child, History Teacher Dave Smith and colleagues of the period from the School becoming a comprehensive in 1971 up until its merger with the Girls School in 2016. They covered not only academic achievements but also the huge range of extra curricular activities including highly successful sporting teams, field trips, drama, youth activities and the award winning Combined Cadet Force - the latter sparking off interest in the Army for astronaut Tim Peake and in the RAF for Red Arrows pilot Mike Child.

Finally Yasmin Maskatiya, Executive Head of the present Chichester High School, spoke about the School as it is now and their vision for the future.

After a sociable lunch delegates enjoyed a visit to the Chichester Gymnastics Academy based in the Tim Peake Building, then a visit to the Combined Cadet Force headquarters where members showed off the equipment and weapons they use and train with before finally moving on to the West Sussex Planetarium where senior lecturer Dr John Mason (another old boy) gave a fascinating presentation about Tim Peake and the International Space Station.

It was then back to the sports hall for tea and cakes before saying farewell.

We are trying to find a former Boys High School ex teacher who helped run the CCF.

She was called Gina Griffiths at that time, I think she has a different surname now.

I believe she still lives locally.

Your results will be available in the Kingsham Hall (CHSB Hall) from 9am on Thursday.

Staff will be available to support you and assist you with signing up to join CHS Sixth Form.

Press Release: A-Levels Chichester High School Sixth Form
August 2016

Staff and students at Chichester High School are delighted to see the excellent performance of last year repeated again this year at A-level. This means that our students are now able to take up their chosen university courses.

Students completing their courses this year achieved 44% A*-B pass rate which equals our achievement in 2015.

The overall pass rate is 99% which is above the national average and we are particularly excited in our rise to 71%, of students achieving A*- C grades. We are pleased and proud that 63.8% of our students gained at least one top grade (A*-B) at A2.

We have two students who have offers confirmed at Cambridge University:

Georgia Barber achieved A*A*A*A and has been offered a place at Cambridge University to read Classics at Peterhouse.

Stella Swain achieved A*A*A A and has been offered a place at Cambridge University to read English at Churchill College.

In addition to these students our top performers are:

Emily Byfield-Riches, who will be taking a gap year before applying for University.

We are also very proud to have had several students awarded unconditional offers this year. John Blanding who will read Classical Civilisation and Philosophy at the University of Roehampton, Oliver Dixon who has been awarded a Tennis and Academic scholarship at the University of Emporia in Kansas, America and Emily Mason who won a scholarship for women in engineering to study Chemical Engineering at Edinburgh University.

It has to be said that we are delighted and proud of all of our students. We are pleased that so many of them now have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and wish them every success in the future. Well done to their teachers and well done to them!
