About right!
Fantastic lunch at Restaurant 64, Chichester College. Good, well presented food, served by enthusiastic and friendly students. A definite maybe for next Christmas - and maybe before.
So good to spend time with the KSLfitness members.
Our Festive Lunch day! This time, we're off to Chichester College for a 3 course lunch - so looking forward to spending time with everyone.

Pumping weights could help you live longer!

And that's why we do it!

Together once again. Our dearest Queen Elizabeth, thank you. There are not the words on this darkest day, one that we all hoped would never come. You have left the biggest and brightest mark on all our lives as you pass on to the next life to join your beloved Prince Philip.
The world will be a different place without your presence. Rest in peace and God bless.💔
“Grief is the price we pay for love.” - HM Queen Elizabeth
It's raining - and a lot cooler so classes are back on. I look forward to seeing everyone later today.

They did it!
Another class cancelled?
If temperatures reach 28 and above I have to follow the guidelines of my professional body (and my insurance company!).
If, as is being forecast, the temperature for Tuesday 19th is 30 or maybe even higher, there will unfortunately not be classes.
I am sorry about this but it is my responsibility to ensure we work safely and without risk.
Lets keep an eye on the forecasts and hope that the temperatures come down.
WHY EXERCISE?
Well apart from maintaining muscle strength, flexibility and boosting endurance, it's good for the brain! According to a report in the journal Alzheimer's & Dementia, researchers from the University of California examined the brains of 400 older people after their deaths and found those who were more physically active had higher levels of specific proteins known to enhance connections between brain cells.
These raised protein levels were found in several parts of the brain including the hippocampus, the area responsible for memory.

CLASSES CANCELLED
As the temperature is forecast to hit 30 on Tuesday, I have decided to cancel classes.
Keep cool everyone!
No classes during the first week of May. I look forward to seeing you all again on 10th May. Keep working!
Build strength, flexibility, energy and functional fitness with KSLfitness Club exercise classes for the over 50’s.
• Tai Chi style classes incorporating Shibashi and Strength and Balance – aimed at all abilities. This system builds strength from within as well as without, helping to reinforce the immune system. Shibashi means 18; the 18 movements work through the whole body gently. Regular practice will increase strength, flexibility and promote a calm, focused mind. The strength and balance section of the class builds and reinforces muscular strength and improves balance with focused exercises.
• Our Body Conditioning class improves stamina and strength. Working to music, we practice low-impact aerobics and a series of stretching and flexing moves, incorporating strength and balance. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. Our classes are non-competitive and fun. We sometimes work with resistance bands, balls or weights and the movements improve range of movement and energy.
Tai Chi/Shibashi class Tuesday mornings from 11.15 to 12.15
Body Conditioning Tuesday afternoons from 14.30 to 15.30
The Scout Hut, Sherbourn Road, Chichester.
All classes cost £4 per session.
KSLfitness is a not-for-profit Club
COVID precautions: I know that the Government are saying we can be more relaxed, I for one will still be using my mask in crowds or when shopping and when taking class fees. I know Omicron doesn’t affect us as badly as previous Covid types but have those other Covid strains gone away? I think they could still be out there waiting to catch us out!!
When attending classes, you must make your own mind up as to whether to come in wearing a mask; obviously we remove them for the class itself. But, please bear in mind that others may feel differently so if they look as though they would rather talk from a distance, please respect that. Keeping to the initial advice is, I think, important so:
Keep a safe distance and wash your hands regularly.
Just because we have been vaccinated, we are still not safe
I will still provide hand-gell which please use when entering and leaving the class and I will be spraying with my Covid killer as normal!
Hi everyone!
I hope this finds you fit and well and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We’ve been really lucky with Winter so far with some lovely bright sunshiny days. I hope you have been able to get out in the fresh air and enjoy them.
This time of year, we usually hunker down indoors and It’s often difficult to get the motivation to exercise on your own which is why classes are so helpful; at least we’re working once a week! This term, all classes will be using bands to help us tone up those muscles and improve flexibility.
January is often a time for making goals; my goal is to get fitter and lose the weight I’ve managed to pile on! Are you all ready to join me?
So it’s back to class on Tuesday 1st February. I’m really looking forward to seeing you all again!
Tai Chi flow style with Strength and Balance 11.15 to 12.15
Body Conditioning 14.30 to 15.30
See you then!!!

Happy New Year everyone.
Keep fit, healthy and happy.

22 of us enjoying our lovely festive lunch at the Brookfield Hotel
Following the last class of the year. held on 14th December. when following a short class we enjoyed mulled wine and nibbles prepared by my lovely and long suffering husband Bob, a lovely time was had by all at our annual club Festive lunch held at the Brookfield Hotel, Emsworth on 15th December.
The food and service were excellent. I hope to have a few photos to post here in the not too distant future.
CLASSES CANCELLED!!!
Today's classes (7th December 2021) are cancelled due to Storm Barra. It could get wild out there so don't go out unless you have to.
I look forward to seeing everyone next Tuesday at 2 for a slightly shorter class and socialising.
Keep well.
Festive Lunch!
I am so looking forward to our lunch at the Brookfield Hotel. Just a couple of thoughts:- please wear your masks into the Hotel and keep them on until seated. If the Hotel has any special arrangements, they will let us know - please follow any instructions they give.
I really think that if we all take precautions then there shouldn't be a problem. We have to learn to live with Covid and if sensible we needn't let it spoil our enjoyment or prevent us meeting friends.
Please arrive at 12 for 12.30.
Keep well and keep smiling!!!
Classes and Covid
At the present time, our face to face classes will continue however, please wear masks to class and whilst paying and please use the hand sanitiser provided.
Keep vigilant, as we know, its very easy to get infected.
Keep smiling!
There are 21 of us now booked for our annual Festive lunch at Brookfield Hotel. Most have paid their £5 deposit which I am sending on to the hotel. The balance of £17.50 has to be paid 10 days before our lunch. For those who wish to pay the balance by bank transfer, I will be handing out my bank details at the next class. Otherwise, please pay by cheque made payable to Christine Stillman. Looking forward to it!!
I want to register my thanks for the continued support of our Club members; you are what makes our classes so successful. Following class closures due to Covid, I had serious doubts that we would get classes off the ground again but core members returned and brought new members with them! You are all Stars!!!
We're holding our Christmas/Winter Lunch at the Brookfield Hotel in Emsworth on Wednesday, 15th December 2021. The Menu looks very good and they are very competitively priced. Make sure you get your names down! Look out for the next Newsletter for further details.
We'll be back up and running again in The Scout Hut. They have apologised for the tents which shouldn't have been there last Tuesday.
I look forward to seeing you all.
Keep well
With regret, I have had to close my classes in The Pavilion, Graylingwell. Unfortunately, my new holiday home business is taking up more and more of my time and I was struggling to cope. I encourage class members to try the other classes being held in Graylingwell - I am pretty sure the Tai Chi classes include Shibashi and there are many others to try.
With my best regards to you all.
I apologise for cancelling last week's classes. Unfortunately, I very occasionally get attacks of Atrial fibrillation which I can normally control but once in a while I can't.
We are back to normal this week! I look forward to seeing you all.
So don't forget, Thursday afternoon in the new Pavilion, 3.00 Body Conditioning for the over 50's and 4.15 for Tai Chi / Shibashi. I look forward to seeing you all.
Payment is still £4.00 per session, payable by card please! If you don't have a payment card, please email me.
URGENT NOTICE - GRAYLINGWELL CLASSES
I learned today that the Pavilion will not be open this week - it will be open on 7th June 2021 - so there are NO CLASSES this week.
I apologise for this - entirely my fault for not checking my messages properly. My time and energy have been almost entirely given over to getting a holiday home ready.
I look forward to seeing you on 10th June
3.15 Body Conditioning for the over 50's
4.15 TaiChi / Shibashi.
Sorry
Christine
We had our first day of classes yesterday. It was so lovely to see everyone again.
The Scouts had put down red dots 2m apart on the floor so with everyone picking every other one, it was easy to keep far enough apart. We're not doing floor work yet as it takes up too much space, but we will start working with the weights again next week.
