Lockdown Blues 2
In my article https://lnkd.in/dbMy5-3 I examined the effects of the pandemic on our mental health and in my last post how we can stimulate our natural endorphins by laughter to increase our feelings of wellbeing.
This time we focus on serotonin which a chemical that has a wide variety of functions in the human body. It is sometimes called the happy chemical because it contributes to our overall wellbeing and happiness. When we have low levels of Serotonin in the brain we may feel depressed, anxious, and have trouble sleeping.
There are a few pleasurable ways we can boost our serotonin levels for those who enjoy exercise, running, swimming and cycling work well. For those who want a lower impact way of increasing serotonin then a 40-minute walk sitting in the sunshine or a 15-minute meditation are all ways that will boost serotonin and increase your happy feelings.
Research shows that when we feel happy our work goes smoothly we are more efficient and can get things done in less time.
So give yourself the gift of a boost in serotonin today and be happier :)
