We are so incredibly proud to announce that the Furniture and Upholstery Department of Chichester College Group has been awarded the Queens anniversary prize. A massive well done to all the team, Christian Notley head of department, Sean Casey and Andy Pengelly second year lecturers, Tim Evershed and Sean Baldwin and Ivan Cardwell level one and three lectures plus all of soft furnishings team, Sue Handson, Cherie, plus the rest of the support team behind the department

The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes recognise outstanding work by UK colleges and universities that shows quality and innovation and delivers real benefit to the wider world and public through education and training. The Prizes are the highest national Honour awarded in UK further and higher

We find our selves sitting in rather prestigious company in receiving this award but this only elevates how wonderful it feels to be officially recognised as a further education college doing something extraordinary for its students and the wider community

Some of the other awards went to the likes of, Oxford University for developing the Covid 19 vaccine, the University of Glasgow for their work on Hepatitis c and dengue, Swansea University for their work on integrated solar technology and renewable energy, the University of Leeds for their work on extreme weather and climate, to name a few.

As a department we pride our selves on what we give to the college and our students, we do not take education lightly, all of us are so incredibly passionate about teaching.
The principle of passing on knowledge is tried and tested, and yet the reality of how easily it can be done badly or just ineffectively is frightening. We constantly try to not only improve the courses we run but maybe more importantly our selves as lecturers, makers and lovers of the craft. I would also like to thank every single student within the past and present cohort. Without you none of this would be a reality
