Our mission is to help schools become self-sustaining, and that requires a community of champions. When you use our pack to raise funds, you help us bring our model to more schools, and because of our match funding offer, your efforts are doubled.

"I was in a cycle of constant worry."

For years, Miriam struggled to support her five children and pay their school fees while farming her half-acre of land. Low crop yields made every season a challenge, leaving her family’s future uncertain.

But everything changed when Miriam attended our agricultural training sessions in Sidai. By implementing new, sustainable techniques tailored to her land, she saw her beans and maize thrive like never before.

Today, Miriam has shifted from barely getting by to achieving consistent, healthy yields. She can now reliably provide for her children and look forward to a future where education is guaranteed, not a source of stress.

Our model has taught us that when you train a school community in advanced farming, the impact doesn't stop at the school gate. Those dozens of farmers we trained last week? They take those techniques – planting, growing, harvesting, composting - back to their own homes.

We aren't just feeding children at school; we are helping families improve their own yields at home. We are seeing the 'multiplier effect' in action: one school garden becomes the training hub for an entire region.

Strategy is important, but proximity is essential.

Seventeen years ago, a chat over lunch led to a mission that has fed thousands.

Today, our vision remains the same: stay close to the problem. We do not believe in designing programmes from the top down. We believe in designing them in the fields, in the schools, and at the kitchen table. Real people having real conversations, supporting and looking after one another.

In our school growing projects in Kenya, water harvesting is absolutely vital, especially after a long, dry season. We often take water for granted here in the UK, but we could learn a lot from these sustainable habits. Someone recently shared that they soak their dishes and then use that water on the garden – genius!

Most people think a charity’s job is to stay forever. At Feeding Futures, we believe our job is to become redundant.

We bring the infrastructure and the agricultural skills, but the community brings the heartbeat. From the very first day, we are clear: we are here to support, not to take over. Our goal is to build a project that, eventually, doesn't need us at all.

When we hand over the keys to a school farm, we aren't saying 'goodbye' - we’re celebrating that the partners are ready to lead. True sustainability isn't just about the crops growing; it’s about the leadership, the accountability, and the systems staying strong once we step back.
