As I mature, both as a woman and as an artist, I feel more courage to make from that inner place of discovery — not to please, but to speak.

What big teeth you have… 🐺❤️
A new piece inspired by Little Red Riding Hood — that moment when something familiar begins to feel just a little unsettling.
I wanted the wolf to remain almost naïve and graphic, creeping across her white dress, while Red herself seems strangely calm. Perhaps she knows exactly who she is sitting beside.
Hand-built ceramic sculpture, finished with slips, underglazes and glaze.

Today I’m celebrating completing my Foundation Degree in Contemporary Art & Design at West Dean College
It still amazes me that I submitted my final essay just one week before Daniel 🤰was born!
To my wonderful fellow students, thank you for sharing this journey with me. I wish each of you courage, fulfilment, and transformation as your own artistic paths unfold.
There is something else this degree has given me.
For years I never felt brave enough to call myself an artist. 👩‍🎨 The word always sounded too pretentious, as though I needed to earn it through recognition, exhibitions, or financial success before I had the right to use it.
But I’ve realised that I don’t.
I am an artist.
I always have been.
I sculpted after long days in a dull office job. I made my first doll while my baby was latched to my breast. I worked with clay late into the night because I simply couldn’t leave an idea alone.
Art is not something I do because it is practical or profitable or else.
I do it because I cannot not do it.
It is how I make sense of the world. It is how I breathe.
