We are a medium-sized primary school situated in Chichester, West Sussex, with approximately 315 pupils on roll, and we are part of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust. St Richard’s is a diverse and multicultural school where every child is known, valued and respected as a unique member of God’s family. Our dedicated staff recognise each child’s God-given talents and individual needs, and classrooms are purposeful, creative environments where pupils are actively involved in their learning. We further enrich the curriculum through specialist teaching in Spanish, visiting speakers, hands-on workshops, educational visits and themed learning days. These experiences support pupils’ personal development, helping them to develop confidence, cultural awareness and aspirations for the future.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

Provide support for pupils with SEND, including communication, sensory and physical needs
Support pupils with medical needs, including implementing care plans where required
Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning
Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to support learning and progress
Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all pupils
Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development
Assist with assessment, recording and reporting on pupil progress
Contribute to planning and delivering interventions
Prepare classroom resources and displays
Supervise pupils during lunchtimes, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
Support pupils with eating, hygiene and independence as needed
Promote positive behaviour and inclusion at all times
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Strong communication skills to work effectively with pupils, staff and parents
A commitment to promoting inclusive practice and removing barriers to learning

Concert for Ukraine – A Special Evening of Music and Community
St Richard’s Catholic Primary School warmly invite you to our Concert for Ukraine, taking place on Thursday 21st May from 6–8pm on the school field.
This special evening is a fundraising event in support of Ukraine, and we are delighted to be joined by volunteers from the Church Farm Ukrainian Aid Hub, who continue to do incredible work supporting those affected by the conflict.
The concert will be a wonderful opportunity for our school and church community to come together in solidarity and celebration.

The evening will feature:
🎤 Performances from our Year 3 and Year 4 children, singing songs learnt through their diocesan singing lessons
🎸 Guitar performances led by Chris Eaton
🎻 Violin performances led by Alex Urquhart
🎼 Woodwind performances led by Georgia Mckee
🎶 Our school choir, plus some special guest performances from staff and members of our wider school community

With live music, food, raffles, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, this promises to be a joyful and memorable evening for a very important cause.

Guests are very welcome to bring chairs, picnics and their own refreshments. There will also be a bar available and a BBQ on the night to add to the enjoyment. We will move the evening inside if the weather is not kind so it will go ahead come rain or shine!

The Pagham Pram Race Committee has awarded a Helping Others Grant to St Richard’s Catholic Primary School in recognition of its strong commitment to equality, inclusion, and educational opportunity for every child. The funding supports the school’s new reading scheme by enabling the purchase of a full range of reading books across all levels, ensuring that every pupil can access materials that match their reading ability. By removing barriers to learning and providing equal access to high-quality reading resources, the grant helps foster a love of reading, supports literacy development, and ensures that no child is disadvantaged in their learning journey.
