Last weekend there was a pause from parenting and international tutoring 🇬🇧 to take on the 15k tough mudder - if you haven’t done it, I would totally recommend it!

The part that sticks with me isn’t the 15k run, or the obstacles, it's the people 💪

Strangers making human ladders so someone else could get over a wall. People stopping mid obstacle to go back and help someone who was stuck. I only got over a couple of those walls because someone I'd never met put their hands out and hauled me up without even being asked. Everyone just looked out for whoever was next to them.

I couldn't have finished it without that. Not a chance.

It's stuck with me all week actually, how much difference it makes just knowing someone's there to help you over the bit you can't quite manage on your own, whether that's a wall covered in mud or for lots of the students we support - a topic that's been tripping you up for months.

Achy, muddy, and genuinely grateful for a load of people whose names I'll never know 🧡

That brings us to the end of our quick trip back through this year's feedback, and if there's one thread running through all of it, it's this: the learning matters, but the confidence matters just as much.

Now that our Alternative Provision, EOTAS and tutoring centre here in the heart of Bosham is properly up and running, we've got more space than ever to work with children across every year group, from KS1 right through to A Level, in Maths, English, Science and beyond.

Low confidence is often the real barrier, not ability.

This parent's Year 10 came to us not believing she knew anything, and it's already starting to shift after just a couple of sessions.

That's usually the first thing we work on, long before marks or grades come into it, because a child who thinks they're bad at English will avoid the very practice that would prove them wrong.

If that sounds familiar in your house, it's worth sorting sooner rather than later, whatever the year group.
