Lemons and limes a wonderful resource to practice squeezing for hand strength. We have added jugs for pouring practice, a playdough press for squeezing together the fruit and pushing out the juice.
Love, Love, Love 🫶🏼 The children have been celebrating Valentine’s Day today. We have been thinking lots about what we love in our lives today. Our favourite was ‘I love the sunshine’ ☀️💗
Saint Lucia Day celebrated in Sweden today.
Lucia is a little girl who brings light to the darkest part of the year in Sweden. Celebrated by Lucia wearing candles in her hair and eating lots of Saffron/Lussekatter Buns. The children have enjoyed listening to the Saint Lucia story and watching the ceremony on YouTube. Cecilia, our lovely deputy manager is from Sweden so has been able to share her memories of this special day and Richard our cook has had his first attempt at making the Saffron buns which we had for snack!
Fire Friday! 🔥 We had a visit from the fire service this afternoon. The children had a tour of the vehicle, looked at the equipment and even got to use the hose! 👨🚒

Conked play ideas.
The trees are abundant this year with beautiful bonkers, they children have enjoyed going on several walks last week and this week collecting confers.
Ideas for using confers in play-
Make a posting game and pop them in a box
Sort them by size
Use them in playdough
Add them to the mud kitchen for play food
Use them on scales to weigh heavy/lighter
Make conked spiders with pipe cleaners and funny eyes
Make caterpillars by connecting them through the middle with string
Make a number line supporting counting
Roll them down tubes or pipes
Conked rolling in paint for autumn pictures
Use them with chalk pens for mark making
Fill them into little jars for counting.
Let us know if you have done these with your little ones or if you have any other great ideas!

Welcome to Little Learners Safari Park; we have the Antarctic, Jungle and Forest to drive through on your Jeep! 🚙 🦁
Our new garden has proved a huge hit today with the children. All the hard work has been worth it seeing the children’s faces when arriving at nursery and seeing how much their space has changed. One of our best buys was buying another get in sand pit, we used to have one at our old building and it was always a hit then too. The children love getting in the sandpit and feeling the texture of sand between their toes. A lovely big area to play with moulds, shells, buckets and spades. And for those children fascinated by wheels and movement like to have larger objects in the sand such as vehicles with scoops and buckets for digging and not forgetting our huge dinosaurs for the budding palaeontologist! What fun we will have in the hours that our new resource will us.
Our end of year treat this year for our school leavers was a Zoolabs visit. We used to have these guys in before Covid, it’s been so wonderful to have them back again today. A fun, hands on session that’s full of facts and fun information for the children to learn like “if the giant land snail eats rainbow coloured food they will have rainbow poo!” Of course the children loved this one 😂. Hannah our insect specialist made the hour long session go so well giving the children little fun moving sessions throughout the session to keep those wiggling bottoms still and engaged.
Highly recommend the company. Thank you 🙏.

Lots of live music, crafts for the children, a treasure hunt and much more. Donations for the event going to help support the 🇺🇦.
Thank you so much for reading.
We have loved learning about life cycles these last few weeks. We kicked off our learning with some caterpillar eggs from . We nurtured these tiny eggs and enjoyed watching them transition in to their chrysalis and then after a few weeks into butterflies. The children sat so patently watching and waiting for the butterflies to take flight. This morning it was lovely to hear the children ask if the butterfly had flown away that was resting on the side of the building yesterday. Today we revisited the life cycle, the children had remembered each stage and then were able to order a few other life cycles too. So lovely to see how much this experience was enjoyed by all. Highly recommend doing at home for that up close experience and providing that real life learning! Definitely one for Awe and Wonder in our World as well as the perfect opportunity for using all the books linked into this topic!

Great World Book Day at Little Learners 2022!
Tee have had Spider-Man, Elsa, Minnie Mouse, The Hungry Caterpillar, Pigs, Princesses and many more fantastic costumes. We haven't stopped reading stories all morning it's been a joy.
We moved our daughter here after she was having problems settling at her previous nursery. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome by all the wonderful staff & they were more than happy to take things at my daughters pace & let me attend many settling sessions with her to make sure she was comfortable in the environment. She now goes in with a smile on her face & loves the whole team there, they are so caring & I feel so happy leaving her with them. As well as all of that the activities & learning on offer for the children is amazing, they do a wide variety of crafts, cooking & outdoor learning. I was also really impressed to hear that they start to sing phonics together to prepare them for school, as well as lots of other learning through play - I feel that my daughter will be more than ready for school next year having had such a fantastic start at Little Learners! So glad I found them!
Great idea for hitting Oral Health and name writing. Design your own toothbrush and practice writing your names in loose teeth. Such great work from our 4 year olds.
