The children in Reception Class sent in photos of themselves as babies as part of our “Marvellous Me” topic.

The children loved looking at the pictures and guessing which one of their classmates was the baby in the picture. We talked about their different features and looked for clues as to who each baby was. Lots of fun! And some children even guessed correctly! Some were definitely easier than others 😃

On Friday, Y5 took part in a poetry and empathy workshop.
As part of this, they were tasked with their own 'If I...' poems and also we shared one of our recent pieces of work linked to Mrs Hancock and The Riley Graves.

🌳 Year 3 Forest Schools 🌲
We’ve had a great time at Linacre today for year 3’s first Forest School session.
We’ve been den building, creating nature art, playing games, climbing and balancing, swinging in hammocks and exploring the woodland environment.

Reception children has a special treat this afternoon when the Year 2 children came in to read them their versions of the story ‘Funnybones’ that they had written. What a treat! The stores were fabulous and the Reception children loved listening to them. Thank you Year 2 ⭐️⭐️

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Macmillan Coffee Morning and to the Friends of Abercrombie who helped run the event. We are incredibly grateful for your support.
Thank you to all the families who generously donated cakes, buns and other treats for the event. We would also like to thank all the children who wore green and contributed to raising money for this wonderful cause.
Every penny raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

🌳 Year 2 Forest Schools 🌳
Today’s adventures included dens, games, bug hunting, cotton wool fires using flint and steel, hammocks, climbing and then a visit to the stream for a paddle this afternoon!
You’ve been amazing Year 2 and we’ll be back in the summer for some more fun.

We have loved sharing the children’s ’All about me’ boxes in Reception class. It has been lovely seeing the children stand in front of the class to talk about themselves, their families and their favourite things 😍

We will save the boxes and display them at the creative homework event for everyone to see before October half term 😊

Y2 had a very special visitor today when Mrs Moran brought baby Reuben in to see us. As part of our Super Humans topic we have been looking at how babies grow and what they need to stay healthy and happy. 😊

Year 3 have enjoyed their visit to the Peak District Mining Museum today! They had a tour of Temple Mine and learned all about how the rocks were formed, how the miners mined for galena (lead ore) and experienced what it would have been like in the mines without lights. They also loved panning for ‘Fool’s Gold’ (iron pyrite) and gems!

After a lovely lunch and play in the sunshine, the children explored the museum - using real mining machinery, exploring artefacts and learning more about sedimentary and igneous rocks.

What a fantastic start to our topic! Well done Year 3.
